5 Well-Known STAR WARS Characters That Should Appear In SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY

The Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer is debuting soon, and will likely be full of easter eggs and recognizable characters. Here are five characters that may appear, with three of them being bounty hunters.

We're likely to see some familiar faces in the upcoming trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, and the movie itself. Here is my list of five characters that should make an appearance, not including the ones that have already been confirmed.

This list comes with a bit of a disclaimer, as when dealing with well-known characters, it’s important to show some restraint. Star Wars has been accused in the past of unnecessarily lobbing nostalgia bombs at the audience, and since this is a movie about one of the most beloved characters in the history of the series, the filmmakers could easily use nostalgia as a crutch. Here's hoping this isn't the case.

Jabba the Hutt

Since Solo has been described as a crime film, the famously repugnant gangster Jabba the Hutt would be a natural fit in this movie. After all, Han and Jabba have quite the history together, so there’s a good chance we’ll get to see the early stages of this dangerous professional relationship. Solo is likely taking us back to Tatooine, and any criminal operations going on there will probably involve Jabba in some capacity.

Also, bringing Jabba back to the big screen would open up the possibility of seeing some more of the weird Jim Henson-esque creatures that inhabit his palace, and I am definitely in favor of that.

Greedo

Speaking of Tatooine, there’s a chance we could also be seeing one of the planet’s local bounty hunters. Before Han shoots Greedo in A New Hope, we hear the Rodian bounty hunter say that he’s been looking forward to killing him for a long time, so the two have certainly had some less than friendly run-ins in the past.

This movie is a good opportunity to show some of the history between these two characters, potentially pitting the pair against each other. If the story is going to spend a good portion of its runtime on Tatooine, a few scenes with Greedo should be expected.

Boba Fett

This one is a no-brainer to me. Since Boba Fett was close to getting his own solo movie, Lucasfilm definitely has some desire to get him back on the big screen soon. There are few characters as iconic in the Star Wars criminal underworld as Boba Fett, and fans would definitely be excited to see him make an appearance in the film’s first trailer, or in the movie itself.

Many Star Wars fans are still upset that all the cool things Boba did in the old Expanded Universe are no longer canon, so all he is really known for now is falling into the sarlacc pit. Solo is the first great opportunity to make Boba awesome again, and director Ron Howard should jump at the chance.

Bossk

Okay, this is the last bounty hunter on the list. Bossk has worked alongside Boba Fett in the past, so it isn’t out of the question for the fiendish Trandoshan to be in the movie as well. Honestly, the main reason for having Bossk in the movie is the fact that he is one of the coolest looking Star Wars characters, aside from being a pretty nasty bounty hunter as well.

Since Bossk is a pretty obscure character, only known by the general public as the lizard guy in The Empire Strikes Back, he doesn’t need a major role in this movie. However, since criminals and mercenaries are going to be plentiful in the film, there should be room for Bossk.

Dash Rendar

Since Disney started producing Star Wars content, they have slowly been reintegrating some of the characters and events from “Legends” into the new canon. Since Solo is going to be set right around the era of the original trilogy, they have an opportunity to introduce one of the Expanded Universe's great smugglers, Dash Rendar.

Dash is another character who has a history with Han and Lando, but there might be some concerns that he is too similar a character to Han Solo since both are scoundrel pilots turned heroes. As ScreenRant reported, Dash is a very divisive character at Lucasfilm, so we shouldn't be getting our hopes up.

I love Prequels I’m general
Temple of Doom
First Class
FantSric Beasts
Godfather 2 (sort of)

I’m a Prequel fan.

So I was hyped before. But now even more hyped!

As to your breakdown.
I feel with the bad buzz of this film and the betrayal of Last Jedi...the more recognizable faces in this teaser the better.

So excited!

Jabba and Boba Fett for sure, Dash Rendar a mention only, Bossk, I don't think so, and Greedo, would be nice to see Han beat him at something or collect something a bounty on something that he got first.

Before The Empire Strikes Back Boba Fett had no previous history with Han so it wouldn't really make any sense to throw him into the Solo movie.

@bcom - According to the non-canon EU, they have had a previous encounter in "The Hutt Gambit", the second book of "The Han Solo Trilogy". This film could either take something from that, and put their own spin on it. Or, do something new altogether and throw in Boba Fett that way.

It would be cool if Greedo is in this and turns out to be a total badass bounty hunter and Han was just lucky enough to get the upper hand in A New Hope.
