Chewbacca Will Get His Own Theme Song In SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY

Chewbacca will finally get his own theme music in Solo: A Star Wars Story. In a Q&A session with Twitter, director Ron Howard stated Chewbacca will get a musical signature thanks to composer John Powell. John Williams, legendary Star Wars composer, recommended the walking carpet got a song.

“John Williams himself suggested that John Powell would be a great candidate to not only use the classic Star Wars themes, but also the new theme that John Williams himself wrote for Han Solo,” Howard said when asked to compare Powell to other composers he’s worked with. “John Powell wrote a lot of great themes, including the first-ever Chewbacca theme.”

Chewie is a legendary supporting character in the world of cinema. Solo will give us the origins of him and Han, detailing their lifelong friendship. Ron Howard is now going to give the Wookiee a deeper connection with fans.

Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams and Woody Harrelson. The film arrives May 25.

Chewie's one of the reasons i'm willing to watch the movie, i love the hairy sob. So yeah, awesome that he's getting his own theme finally, hope is great.

@JosephCronos92 - Me too! Hopefully it's something with a strong feeling in it and not just a random song

As long as it's sung by Diahann Carroll I'll be fine with it.

Thats interesting! When my wife gives me a blowie on my Chewbacca, I make the roar that Chewbacca in the movies always makes!
Like to spice things up that way, ya dig?

A "theme" in a film score does not mean "theme song". It's a recurrent melody that gets woven into the score at character appropriate moments. Luke, Leia, Vader, and many others have themes that we all know and love. Clearly Chewie's role in SOLO warrants some specific musical highlighting.
