DARTH VADER "TV Specials" Planned; EPISODE VII Still Set For Spring/Summer 2015 Release

Attendees of the European Brand Licensing Show were given an OFFICIAL brochure detailing Disney's plans for Star Wars over the next two years. It confirms that Episode VII is set for a Summer 2015 release, although most surprising is the fact that "Darth Vader Themed TV Specials" are on the way.

Jedi News have posted the following page from a brochure given out at the European Brand Licensing Show recently, and as you can see, it confirms and reveals some major Star Wars news! Where exactly Disney will squeeze J.J. Abrams' Star Wars Episode VII into the already packed out Spring and Summer of 2015 remains to be seen, but most intriguing is the mention of "Darth Vader Themed TV Specials". Could these be documentaries or - far more exciting a thought - live-action/animated specials featuring the villain? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Move Avengers forward to April, give Star Wars its traditional 3rd Friday of May release that will give Avengers a month and give Disney tons of cash.

I dont think that May release is a good idea for Star Wars

Avengers 2
Batman/Superman
Jurassic World
Terminator 5
Assassins Creed

I honestly dont think Star Wars would make a billion dollars if it still has that 2015 may release

So, for the sake of argument, let's assume Avengers 2 does about as well as the first, and that Star Wars comes out over Memorial Day 2015--which happens to be Avengers 2's fourth weekend.

By Avenger 1's fourth weekend, it dropped to number 2 behind MIB3. It still made 36.6 million that weekend for a new total of 513 million.

If Disney released Star Wars in Avenger 2's fourth weekend, all it would mean to Disney is that they have the first and second place films at the box office that weekend, instead of just the second.

@Curmudgeon Your spot on dude..i've been screamin this for a while. Disney has some SERIOUS release power now with Marvel, StarWars and Pixar. This allows them to sandbag other releases (look at first weekend of Monsters U vs MoS and that drop off) and control some of that stuff. Look at Thor..Enders Game is week before (i believe) and no real competition till Hunger Games 3 weekends later..These Execs are fueled on ego..and they want to take first place regardless of franchise..Disney is going to use its war horses...

It is going to be a Darth Vader Holiday Special and musical.
James Earl Jones has already begun recording songs for the special. And Jones will do a duet with Anthony Daniels called "Thank The Maker".

Vader is arguably the best character in the franchise so Disney will do everything they can to keep him going. I want another Ewoks special now.

If Vader does reappear onscreen, it had better be in "evil" mode, wearing the full black costume.

Anakin Skywalker IMO worked best when left as a more or less mysterious figure from the past, not a main-character psychological plot fixation.

I thought they moved EP VII's release to winter 2014? Has this brochure been authenticated by Disney? Also, couldn't they do better than Vader specials? What about EA video game releases?

Is it too much to ask Disney/Lucasfilm/Lucas to be creative and come up with a new villain as cool or more so then Darth Vader for "a new generation"?

"Darth Vader themed TV Special"? Yeah, because no one lifts your spirits like a corrupted soul who accidentally killed his wife and moped through the part of his life where he actually got to have skin. This has "Christmas Special" written all over it.
