Disney Offers Sneak Peek Into STAR WARS: RISE OF THE RESISTANCE Attraction Opening In Hollywood Studios

Disney offers a glimpse into the new Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction opening this week in Disney World's Hollywood Studios. It looks to be one of the most technically complex attractions ever.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, the second planned attraction for the Galaxy's Edge, finally opens this week in Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios. As part of the "Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration" on ABC, Disney shared a glimpse into the attraction ahead of its grand opening on Thursday.

The sneak peek video highlights various segments from the attraction which "invites you to be a recruit of the resistance to stand up against the First Order."

The adventure begins with guests boarding a space craft to rendezvous with the resistance, only to be captured by the First Order. From there, we see glimpses of a massive hangar bay — seen previously in concept art — which houses over 50 stormtroopers, a docked TIE fighter, and other surprises. It looks like this portion is a walk-through but guests do eventually board an eight-passenger First Order Fleet Transport to make their big escape.

These trackless vehicles transport riders through various action-packed scenes where they come face-to-face stormtroopers, X-Wings, TIE fighters, laser cannons, droids, and even Kylo Ren.

As explained by Theme Park Insider:

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance comprises four ride systems: the IT-S transport, the trackless First Order Fleet Transports, a motion base that the transport vehicle drives onto as it enters the escape pod, and a drop shaft that creates the effect of dropping from the Star Destroyer. The last three ride systems all work together, as you remain seated within the transport vehicle during each of those sequences.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance looks like one of the most technically complex attractions Disney has ever developed. It opens in Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios on Thursday, December 5 and in Disneyland on Friday, January 17.

It joins Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run — an interactive simulation — as the second attraction in Galaxy's Edge.

Reminds me a lot of the Indiana Jones Adventure ride at Disneyland. Can’t wait to check it out for myself.

I really wish Disney could have done a full Marvel Park. Instead of a Disney Castle they could have had Avengers Tower from the movies. Some cool rollercoasters, museums, parades and shows. My imagination runs wild with the potential. "Sigh".....if only.

@SonOfAGif - Avengers Campus is probably the closest thing, opening in California, France and Hong Kong.

@MattIsForReal - Wait, it’s being built in California?

@LadiesmanBumble - Yes, a 4-acre "Avengers campus" is being built in Disney California Adventure. A Spider-Man shooter dark ride, Doctor Strange stage show, and Ant-Man microbrewery will open in Summer 2020, and then some time later they will be a major Avengers attraction in which guests will use jetpacks to fly through a battle in Wakanda.

@ThorArms - I hope all the haters realize Star Wars, Disneyland and theme parks are ultimately made for kids, not for a bunch of neckbeards who criticize every damn thing that comes out.

Doubling down on people wanting Star Wars content based on the new movies... Hope it's as successful as Galaxy's Edge.

That name is so confusing...this is for the one in Disney WORLD right?
Them having "Hollywood" in the name makes it sound like its for Disneyland.

@Himura - Disney Hollywood Studios has been the name of its movie-themed park at Walt Disney World in Florida since 2008. It doesn't seem to confuse most people.

@DavidMullich - confuses the [frick] out of me who lives in SoCal and has never been to Florida. I'm sure there are plenty of people who think there is only one "Hollywood" in the world and would get confused too.
