Sources for the Star Wars fansite, Jedi News, claim that motion-capture superstar Andy Serkis ("Dawn of the Planet of the Apes") has not one, but two roles in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Here's what they know:
One of those roles is, as expected, motion-capture based - and in that role he will be part of a "group of unbelievably athletic and acrobatic motion-capture characters."

The second role for Serkis sees him take on a "pivotal role in the first act story arc that entwines with Daisy Ridley's backstory," and that role "may have more to it than it seems in the first instance."

As for the motion-capture role, the sources for Jedi News says British parkour star Pip Anderson and actress Crystal Clarke are part of Serkis' "athletic and acrobatic" group.

Star Wars: Episode VII - Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film. It's being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.

I feel like even after the movie is released, people will still believe that Cumberbatch is in it somewhere.

That'd be better. The pictures are worse than paragraphs of spoilers. ha

I'm not gonna report for it, but some folks are far more anal about spoilers than a little bit. haha

I loved this scene when I first saw it, granted I was still in HS...

In hindsight I don't like Yoda wielding a lightsaber, BUT if they want Serkis and acrobats doing this YES PLEASE.

It sure seems like Serkis is playing Revan. I mean, I know Revan is human in the EU, but still.

I believe Sydow's is playing an old Anakin Skywalker. I believe Luke saved his life at the end of Return of the Jedi and hid him away on Tatooine, knowing that nobody would accept him after all the terrible things that he did as Darth Vader. I also believe Han and Leia know, and Kira was sent to live with him so he could protect her from the empire and the Sith. To me it's clear as day...character from the prequels that is mostly cyborg with a connection to the Sith? ...sounds like Anakin Skywalker to me.

@Deschain99

It looks awesome, but as @NerdMan points out, it's not very Yoda like. Yoda shouldn't kill much less hurt anyone, he's a little green Gandhi, if you will.

And Nerdman I'm hoping Abrams emphasis on practical effects will make the fight scenes less ridiculously all over the place like that one.

Its obvious... Sydow is Jar Jar Binks!

@yingyangpalms

I did consider the fact that he saw Anakin's force ghost at the end of ROTJ, but I believe they will simply have some kind of explanation. Perhaps, the Cyborg part of Anakin survived and has become some kind of sentient droid hybrid. Or maybe Luke used the force to bring him back to life after he saw his ghost. Perhaps Yoda instructed him to do this because of something he saw in the future. I DON'T KNOW, but the fact is there are not too many characters from the prequel that are half cyborg and have some connection to the Sith. Also, the guy who released this information said everybody would be shocked once it is revealed who Sydow is playing.

Also, the concept art showing Sydow's alleged character holding Darth Vader's helmet appears to be some kind of symbolism of Anakin looking in the mirror and seeing a reflection of his former self so to speak. IMO, it's very clear that Anakin/Darth Vader is going to be back based on the spoilers that this guy is spewing, but that's assuming the spoilers are real LOL. This guy could just be full of chit, and none of the information about Sydow is true. ...but based on what this guys is saying, I'm betting on Sydow being grandpa Anakin.
