Does Han Solo Have A Much Larger Role Than Luke And Leia in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII?

Does Han Solo Have A Much Larger Role Than Luke And Leia in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII?

While it was no surprise that the core three cast members from the original trilogy were coming back, it may be a surprise to find out that Han Solo is going to have "a significantly larger role" than Luke and Leia in Episode VII. Hit the jump for more!

It's been a well known fact that the original cast was going to return for Star Wars: Episode VII, but the size of their roles has still remained a seceret. According to previous rumors, JJ Abrams minimized the role of the original cast members role to make room for the new cast. However, according to Entertainment Weekly, Han will have a far larger role than Luke and Leia.

But the involvement of all three was considered so vital, George Lucas himself met with them — including Ford — before the Disney sale to recruit their participation. And he got it, along with vows to keep that hush-hush until the appropriate time (less successful in Fisher’s case.) Even more significant, Han Solo won't just be a walk-on. While Hamill and Fisher will boast strong supporting parts, Ford will join three of the young stars as one of the leads in the story, according to several sources close to the film. Bonus points to anyone who gets to say to him, “She’s fast enough for you, old man.”

Does this come as a shock to you? Could this hint at the possibility that Han could bite the dust in the next film? Sound off below!

Not a shock. It sounded like that was being implied earlier.

I hope people can put to rest the whole "I bet Han dies" stuff, since it's based on Ford's wishes from 30 years ago.

I don't mind as long as Luke's son is the lead. Prequel trilogy focused on Anakin and original trilogy focused on Luke, so it would make sense for the sequel trilogy to continue with the tradition of keeping a Skywalker as the lead.

Yep, He has a leading role and he will sacrifice himself for the other's survival - because thats how Ford wanted Solo to go out at the end of Return of the Jedi and he has been grumbling and moaning in interviews about not getting his way for decades. The Han Solo character will die 100% - Harrison Ford probably went so far as to get it in writing on his contract.

"I hope people can put to rest the whole "I bet Han dies" stuff, since it's based on Ford's wishes from 30 years ago."

Yep...that was clearly too much to hope for.

The reason for him wanting Han to die in the early 80's is no longer valid.
