Leonardo DiCaprio Reveals Why He Didn't Play 'Anakin Skywalker' In The STAR WARS Prequels
Leonardo DiCaprio had the chance to appear in Batman & Robin as Robin, and he's had the chance to suit up as Spider-Man in Sam Raimi's trilogy. We all know he didn't accept those roles, but now you can find out why he didn't accept the role of Anakin Skywaler in Star Wars.
When casting began for the Star Wars prequels, a lot of actors were being looked at and discussed to take the role of Luke Skywalker's father, Anakin Skywalker. As you know, Hayden Christensen eventually won the role and portrayed the character for three films. However, did you know that Leonardo DiCaprio was offered to play the role of the young Jedi Knight beforehand? Clearly, he didn't accept it, and in a recent interview with Shortlist he revealed why he chose to do so. "I did have a meeting with George Lucas about that as well, yes." He then added, "Again, just didn’t feel ready to take that dive. At that point."
Later in the interview, after being asked about why he didn't accept the role of Peter Parker, DiCaprio revealed - just as he said about Star Wars - that he just wasn't ready to take on that mantle. "That was another one of those situations, similar to Robin, where I didn’t feel ready to put on that suit yet. They got in touch with me." So, does this mean that we'll never see DiCaprio in a superhero film? Never say never. "You never know. You never know. They’re getting better and better as far as complex characters in these movies. I haven’t yet. But no, I don’t rule out anything." So this means we could possibly see DiCaprio as Peter Quill's father in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2? Or as Shazam in DC's 2019 film? Don't rule anything out people...
