Marvel And STAR WARS Movies Will Indeed Be Moving From Netflix To Disney's New Streaming Service

We pretty much figured it was only a matter of time before this was announced, and sure enough, Disney CEO Bob Iger has revealed that all Marvel & Star Wars films will move to Disney's streaming service.

We all wondered what the fate of Marvel and Star Wars movies on Netflix would be following the news that Disney would be starting its own direct-to-consumer streaming service in 2019, and now we know.

During an earnings call earlier today (via THR), Bob Iger officially announced that Disney's deal with Netflix would not be renewed, and all Marvel Studios and Star Wars properties would find a new home on the upcoming OTT service.

Iger also revealed that in addition to Disney’s current film library of nearly 500 films and 7,000 TV episodes, the studio will produce four to five original films and TV shows (mostly live-action) for the streaming service.

I'd say the chances of seeing that long-awaited live-action Star Wars TV series at some stage is looking pretty good.
