The official Star Wars Twitter account has just debuted a brand new trailer for the second half of Star Wars Rebels' third season, and there's plenty here to get fans of the Disney XD animated series very excited indeed.

His appearance has been teased for a while now, but here we finally get our first look at Obi-Wan Kenobi, who will be voiced by both James Arnold Taylor as the younger, Ewan McGregor-inspired version, and Stephen Stanton (Admiral Radus in Rogue One) as the more Alec Guinness-influenced incarnation.

Check out the trailer below, which also includes a glimpse of Mon Mothma, Sabine wielding a Darksaber, and much more.

Star Wars Rebels will be back with an hour-long, two-part special on Saturday (8:30-9:30 p.m. ET on Disney XD), that'll feature the return of Forest Whitaker as Saw Gererra.

Wow. That was a pretty impeccable Alec Guinness impression.

Glad to see that Obi Wan will get rid of Maul once and for all.

@MattBellissimo - I think both were amazing impressions. And so is the Forest Whitaker one, except it doesn't sound like him Rogue One but a younger Forest.

@capcyclopsftw - Well, its actually Forest Whitaker, so no impression there. Lol

@MattBellissimo - Damn, Forest Whitaker does his own voice sooooo good!

@MattBellissimo - Im convinced Maul isnt actually planning to kill Kenobi. I feel he wants his help for something. I just feel the "revenge quest" is too simple a stroyline and weve already had the "finale duel" with ahsoka and Vader. Overall, Im not convinced ObiWan is killing Maul anyway.

Im slightly disapointed in the trailer, because there wasnt even a hint of Ahsoka. We know she survived in some form. If she inst going to appear in Rebels again then just tell us. I think it is a missed opportunity not to have her meet obiwan again.

@StormXmen123 - I REALLY don't want to see Maul's arc end with Obi Wan. He works best as a thorn in the side of the Rebels and the Empire. I don't need Obi Wan vs. Maul Round 3. Not do I want it. It just feels too "Been there, done that."

@AMrSundayGirl58 - I agree. From a show context Mauls adds so much. He is a distinct villian from the Empire. He brings the force/jedi type of episodes. Additionally, besides Vader (who rarely shows up) Maul is the only other lighstaber combatant for ezra/kanan.

@ComicsBornAndBred - I thought he killed him in the first battle. How are they fighting? When does this show take place?
GhostDog

@McGee - takes place years after the prequels. Five years before Star Wars: Episode IV. Maul survived his fall using his hate and will to live on. He used the Force to grab an air vent as he was tumbling down the reactor shaft. His legs, chopped off by Obi, were later replaced by a six-legged apparatus.

@McGee - Clone Wars! Watch it McGee, it's less consistent than Rebels, but when it's good it's better.

As much as I wanna see an Obi Wan film, the chances of it ever happening are becoming more and more slim.

@BackwardGalaxy - Stuff like the above trailer and in canon comics is reconciling a lot of the in between stuff is all. There's only so much adventure one can have as a hermit on a boring desert planet.

@MattBellissimo - I agree. I truly enjoy the connection between the comics , books and shows. But many stories are "wasted".

Take Vader for example. He has a short time frame of existence. Revenge to the end of ROTJ. Much of his time between ANH and ESB has been utilised in the comics, hence the chance of a film involving him at this time is gone, unless they adapt a comic storyline (which runs into the issue of what is canon the comic or the film)

@MattBellissimo - I see what you mean. However, I don't think it's impossible that they'd do a film that retreads and overlaps some events of the comics and animated series since the majority of their audience hasn't been exposed to those stories.

I don't think they'll fill maul off here... in fact, they may only fight very briefly. This particular cow is going to be milked for a looooooong time.
MattBellissimo
MattBellissimo - 1/4/2017, 9:36 AM
@RorMachine - As in, you think their confrontation will be spread out? It's hard to imagine anyone but Obi-wan finishing him off.

@MattBellissimo - Yeah I think they'll save the final showdown for either the last season of Rebels, or some other media. Hard to imagine we'll ever see a live-action maul again though... or Obi Wan for that matter.
