Solo: A Star Wars Story blasts into theaters in just under two weeks and with early word on the movie overwhelmingly positive, it's looking like Disney has another hit on its hands. Seeing as Star Wars: The Last Jedi came under fire from a lot of fans, it won't hurt the studio to now release a crowd-pleasing effort and it seems like this origin story for the beloved character will end up being exactly that.

Today, Disney has released a new batch of official character descriptions for the highly anticipated movie and almost all of them reveal new details about everyone from Han Solo to Dryden Vos.

One of the most interesting things here is that Han actually served in the Imperial as a Mudtrooper; it's previously been theorised that he dropped out/was fired from the Imperial Academy so this is something of a game-changer. To check out all the new Solo: A Star Wars Story character descriptions and reveals, all you guys need to do is click on the View List button to see the whole article.

Han Solo - Alden Ehrenreich

For young Han Solo, times are tough under Imperial rule. He makes his way as a reckless street thief, working for a notorious gang on Corellia, which is headed up by an ill-tempered crime boss. After an arduous stint as an Imperial mudtrooper, Han calls it quits and finds that he is very comfortable reinventing himself and travelling in the company of scoundrels around the galaxy.

Beckett - Woody Harrelson

There is no question that Beckett is a survivor. Seasoned, taciturn, and all-business, Beckett quietly works out all the angles to come out ahead. He’s put together a team of specialized thieves to carry out risky but profitable heists, which he carefully plans and executes.

Qi'Ra - Emilia Clarke

Qi’ra is deeply enmeshed in a life of crime as a member of a street gang on Corellia. Streetsmart, calculating and ambitious, she puts her early life as a powerless street urchin behind her and uses all her wits to move up in status within a prominent criminal organization.

Lando Calrissian - Donald Glover

Smooth, sophisticated Captain Lando Calrissian stands ready to retire from his life of a smuggler and become a full-time gambler. His calling is now to shuffle from one high-stakes card game to another across the galaxy as opportunities arise.

Val - Thandie Newton

Val is a trusted member of Beckett’s crew. Cool, bad-ass, and self-assured, Val is a no-nonsense woman who can be prickly at times, to say the least. She is a crack shot with a blaster rifle but may just be the most level-headed and capable member of Beckett’s ragtag crew of scoundrels.

L3-37 - Phoebe Waller-Bridge

L3-37 is Lando’s co-pilot and a self-made droid assembled from astromech and protocol parts. Despite her make-up, L3-37 is an enlightened navigator who cares deeply about droid rights.

Dryden Vos - Paul Bettany

Dryden Vos heads up an emerging criminal syndicate. Under Vos’ leadership, the organization quickly gains a reputation for ruthlessness. But as ruthless as Vos is, he is not a crude cutthroat, preferring instead to surround himself with luxury.

Chewbacca - Joonas Suotamo

The mighty Wookiee is nearly two centuries old, but he has fallen on hard times during the age of the expanding Empire. When fate has Han and Chewbacca cross paths, Chewbacca embarks on a long, loyal and trusting friendship that he could have never expected.

If the leaked plot descriptions are to be true (and it sounds real) then there is a character that has a small cameo that makes me excited for this film.

It will show that Disney really is taking this "everything is canon" seriously and not putting the films first, as they may worry that it will confuse general fans who only watch the films.

It will mean that many more characters with complex histories (I'm looking at you Ahsoka) could be introduced despite the potential of confusing general fans.

@Vigor -
(SPOILERS)
Darth Maul cameos as a hologram incredibly briefly (Apparently less than a minute) as a sort of gangster-like role as the boss of another character.

Lots of reviews have L3-37 as the breakout star so far of solo, hopefully she appears in the sequels too.

Han ends up a deadbeat in his later years and is stabbed like the idiot he is for thinking he can bring his punk son back from the dark side. Why would I have any further interest in him? Don't get me wrong. I used to think he was cool.

Hopefully they did some research on this topic and have a real purpose otherwise it will be something ordinary just to pull some jokes!

But since there is no real planning in these Disney products, I'd say the second option will be the most likely scenario!
