RUMOR: FRINGE's John Noble Up For Villain Role In STAR WARS VII?

Nothing concrete, but an Aussie radio show host reckons she has it on "good authority" that the actor - who also appeared as Denethor in Return Of The King - will be playing the villain in the first of Disney's new Star Wars movies..

This is sketchy - basically just the word of one Radio show host - but we haven't had any casting rumors for Star Wars Episode VII yet so what the Hell! On morning radio (Fox FM) in Melbourne Australia, the hosts were discussing yesterday's confirmation of the standalone Star Wars movies when one of them (Jo) said she "has it on very good authority that Aussie actor John Noble will be appearing as the villain". The other host, Matt, queried this but she remained adamant, saying this was definitely for Episode VII and not for one of the standalone movies, before offering to make a friendly wager on the matter. Obviously we have no way of knowing if this is true, and our definition of "good authority" may differ quite a bit from Jo's here, but you never know. Noble did work on the J.J Abrams created tv show Fringe - but of course that could also just be where the (rather lazy) link was made for the rumor to spring from. If it did turn out to be true and he was to play the villain, how would it go down with you guys? Thanks to Natalia Romanov for the heads up.

Does this mean there will be a scene where he bursts into flames, runs the entire length of a Star Destroyer before dying? ;)

This would be a fantastic choice, as marvel72 says hes got a really great voice. Maybe this will get him the recognition he should have gotten for Fringe.

i'm all for this. He may not have gotten enough recognition for Fringe, but I'd like to think it helped him get a role (or rumor) like this one

damn that would be awesome! If nothing else, Fringe demonstrated how supremely talented John Noble is.

That. Man. Can. Act.

But also, as an Aussie, I wouldn't necessarily trust Matt and Jo...

Hmm, maybe he could be Palpatine's clone?

I know, maybe no one wants to see Palpatine again, but I think, his arc would make a great movie. Not to mention how Noble would be terrific in the role.

Darth Plagueis in the book Darth Plagueis was a Muun, so it would require extensive make up or motion capture anyway.

It's definitely possible that they could have cast someone, or at least have someone in mind..I'm not saying believe this rumor in particular, but I wouldn't dismiss it based solely on that.
