One of the biggest problems I had with this film was the color palette. Each shot and scene were pretty poorly lit and featured a lot of muted colors all throughout.

So no use in buying this/downloading this in 4K. It'd be a waste.

FWIW, I liked it better than Rogue One.

Probably will never see this film again. Though not terrible, it is instantly disposable and forgettable.

Cut about 10 minutes of short unnecessary scenes/dialogue and you have yourself a really enjoyable (albeit still flawed) movie. Add in a full color re-grade, and potentially reinserting any finished deleted scenes if they help highlight the characters that need more development, and this movie could potentially move from near bottom to near top of my Star Wars ranking. I'll be getting this blu-ray so I can turn it into something I enjoy much more than I currently do.

It's too bad this movie didn't do that well. I really want to see where they go with it. They should have played all their cards and put both Boba and Jabba in it, or at least a few more bounty hunters that has established canon. Not just a Bossk name drop but actually Bossk.

@NicolausCopernicus - I don't know if they ever got a chance to film a proper ending, so a cut of their film may be impossible.

@Oskir - hey honest question, I'm not looking for a fist fight:

I love the EU and I hate disney canon with every fiber of my being, BUT, I wanted to see what you thought of something. I wanted to get someones opinion who really likes ep8. And just to calm the storm before it might start, I AM still going to Disney World in a month, so I don't hate Disney itself lol.

In rebels, they've established that time travel is possible. Now, what if in episode 9, everything plays out as normal and there isn't even any time travel, but some random character, it doesn't have to be anyone in particular, simply says: "The Skywalkers, they were legends. But a long time ago, history was rewritten. So-and-so (another random character) was able to travel back through time, and nothing has been the same since."
Of screen, Disney announces that all Legends material will still be marked as such, but that they are the legends that the character speaks of in ep9. Disney can still claim that they are legends, since they have been overwritten, but the EU has now been elevated in status and IS in fact canon right alongside 7 and 8. 7 and 8 are absolutely essential, but so is the EU. Luke is now not a 100% a dick, because it is mostly the time jump that has made him so. A completely new set of circumstances has occured, and 7 8 and 9 are what we have.

I know its a cop-out, but I'm just spit-balling trying to find a happy middle ground that would encompass every scrap of star wars, yet let the new fans have their cake and eat it too. Even the folks that never thought the EU was canon can still ignore it, because technically, that story is done and rewritten.....but its technically also canon, just as essential as 7 8 or 9.

What do you think? Oh and I really liked most of Solo, its just a shame I went to it already ticked off about ep8. I wouldv'e liked it even better if it came out in, say, 2007 after ep3.

@Oskir - on second thought, even that off-screen announcement by Disney wouldn't even have to take place. Just the fact that its up in the air is good enough
Oskir
Oskir - 7/18/2018, 10:40 AM
@hartley07 - To be honest, I just watch the movie so the main saga and the two spin-off (Rogue One and Solo), I really like this universe but not enough to watch the animated cartoon or read the books and comics. So everything just just told about time travel and all, I didn't know anything about that so I don't know what to answer to you.

@Oskir - haha its cool, again, I actually kinda envy you. If I never read the books or played the video games, I would be fine right now, instead of grumpy old toad lol
I was just curious. :) I guess my point was going to be that for the people who really love 8, and for the people who never thought the EU was canon in the first place, bringing the books back into an alternate timeline that is now overwritten wouldn't affect them in the least, and EU fans could enjoy star wars to the fullest again, since the story they love is now actually being continued, not just erased off-screen. Everyone wins. Hopefully someone down the road figures this out. Again, it wouldn't need to be spoon fed to the audience, but merely hinted at.

@hartley07 - Yeah I know that if I start to watch and read the EU, I will be so mad about every flaws, so I just stick with the movies and that's all :)

Sucks it didn’t do better overseas. Would love to see a second one, a Lando movie and have the Boba Fett and Obi-wan movies feature some of the same characters so that this kind of quadrilogy of films about the underworld came together and existed.

Still waiting for a director to have the balls to just suggest the EU was an alternate timeline on-screen. That's all it would take. Nothing would change, but the EU would be a part of the overall story, and then overwritten. It could keep the legends banner too. Everyone wins. I'd be right back onboard.
I liked solo, but I would have loved it before 2014.
