Solo: A Star Wars Story was put through the wringer before finally arriving in theaters, with original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller fired by Lucasfilm for going off script a little too often during production. That script was written by father and son duo Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, and the latter has now shared his thoughts on a possible continuation of the story.
While Solo was something of a box office disappointment, it left the door open for a sequel and has only gained in popularity since being released in 2018. #MakeSolo2Happen frequently trends on social media as a result, but Jon believes that the characters could live on courtesy of The Mandalorian executive producer Jon Favreau.
"I think someday we're gonna see what happened, and how Qi'ra advanced through the world and through the crime syndicates," he tells Screen Rant (via SFFGazette.com). "I've talked to Jon Favreau about it; he's a big fan of that movie and some of the stuff we built out. I always say, 'Well, you're the guy to figure it out.' I always look to him to keep the story alive and keep it going."
"Star Wars is going in so many fun directions. Specifically, I saw that trailer for Andor today and I thought, 'Enfys Nest is gonna show up somewhere in that show,'" Kasdan continued. "I'm hopeful that a lot of those people continue on the journeys they were on."
Favreau has essentially taken charge of the Star Wars franchise on Disney+, and thus far, he's done a terrific job. With most of the stories he's helping tell set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, many of these characters could appear, albeit a little older than when we last saw them.
Qi'ra's story has continued courtesy of Marvel Comics, though it would be a shame not to pick up with that big Maul cliffhanger seeing as it received such a positive response from fans.
Stay tuned for the latest on Solo's future!
