SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Writer Jon Kasdan Says Jon Favreau Is The Right Person To #MakeSolo2Happen

Jon Favreau's contributions to the Star Wars franchise have been a hit among fans, and Solo: A Star Wars Story writer Jon Kasdan has now suggested he be the one to #MakeSolo2Happen. Read on for details...

Solo: A Star Wars Story was put through the wringer before finally arriving in theaters, with original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller fired by Lucasfilm for going off script a little too often during production. That script was written by father and son duo Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, and the latter has now shared his thoughts on a possible continuation of the story.

While Solo was something of a box office disappointment, it left the door open for a sequel and has only gained in popularity since being released in 2018. #MakeSolo2Happen frequently trends on social media as a result, but Jon believes that the characters could live on courtesy of The Mandalorian executive producer Jon Favreau.

"I think someday we're gonna see what happened, and how Qi'ra advanced through the world and through the crime syndicates," he tells Screen Rant (via SFFGazette.com). "I've talked to Jon Favreau about it; he's a big fan of that movie and some of the stuff we built out. I always say, 'Well, you're the guy to figure it out.' I always look to him to keep the story alive and keep it going."

"Star Wars is going in so many fun directions. Specifically, I saw that trailer for Andor today and I thought, 'Enfys Nest is gonna show up somewhere in that show,'" Kasdan continued. "I'm hopeful that a lot of those people continue on the journeys they were on."

Favreau has essentially taken charge of the Star Wars franchise on Disney+, and thus far, he's done a terrific job. With most of the stories he's helping tell set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, many of these characters could appear, albeit a little older than when we last saw them.

Qi'ra's story has continued courtesy of Marvel Comics, though it would be a shame not to pick up with that big Maul cliffhanger seeing as it received such a positive response from fans.

Stay tuned for the latest on Solo's future!

@ShellyMando - There are fan edits out there that remove a lot of the cringy jokes and fan service stuff, do people really hate the rest of the movie that much? I thought it was entertaining schlock at least

Maybe if it's iron man John Favreau. If it's lion king John Favreau then no thanks.

The quote "You look good. A little rough around the edges, but good" perfectly describes how I feel about the movie.

No more shows or films between the episodes. I'm tired of all this garbage.

@AmazingFILMporg - considering their best stuff (Clone Wars S7, Rebels, Mandalorian) has all been on the small screen, I’m not sure I can agree…

I quite enjoyed Solo, and I'd be down for another. Especially if it means we can get some action from Darth Maul. And if Jon Favreau has anything to do with it, even better.

Unless they get a time machine and bring young Harrison Ford to play the role then ‘No’ and even then I would still say ‘No’

This is the one movie since Disney took over I just don’t accept as canon (Yeah, I know, technically it is), but it just takes so much away from the character we met in A New Hope.

I’m with other people, either go back 1000 years when there were many Sith and Jedi or go 1000 years into the future

@MUTO123 - dialogue that is cheesy first go around and classic lines 10-20 years later is textbook Star Wars.

They just need to leave Han Solo alone. In my opinion, he is one of the greatest characters in cinema of all time.

But ever since The Force Awakens, this franchise has done nothing but dump on his legacy. Each movie has done him progressively worse and worse. It seems they just don't know what to do with his character.

I think they should just leave him alone and let it be. If they are so eager to keep making more Star Wars content, they should focus on creating newer characters that they can do justice.

Just my two cents.

Good storytelling is good storytelling irrespective of its on the big or small screen. Making a good story on Han Solo is purely based on the creative vision not what people deem can or cannot be possible. Far less interesting characters have had great films. There’s a lot that could be done that doesn’t need to connect to everything.

Solo, though far from terrible, was easily the most disposable Star Wars film ever made. The cast did the best they could with a bland, uninspired story, but let’s just leave it. So far the best Disney era is the 30 years between Return of the Jedi and Force Awakens that Faveroue and Filoni have been working on. Let’s let them concentrate on that instead.

There is no right person to make Solo 2 happen.

Let some things die…including this Star Wars mess that Kennedy has created.

"SOLO..." is still my favorite Star Wars film, and I've seen all of them AND I never really like the Han Solo character much. The characters in SOLO seemed more realistic, and I liked the story overall.

Maybe not Solo 2, but I wouldn't mind seeing all those characters in a Star Wars underworld story told by Favreau and Filoni. Could be worked into the Lando story as well I think
