STAR WARS Celebration 2020 Dates Announced As Annual Convention Returns To Anaheim, California

Mark your calendars, because Star Wars Celebration is returning to Anaheim, California for next year's convention. With The Rise of Skywalker out by then and no new film until 2022, what will be featured?

Star Wars Celebration is set to return to Anaheim, California next year, taking place from August 27-30, 2020.

The annual convention celebrating all things Star Wars typically features big announcements and surprise reveals, panels with special celebrity guests, autograph sessions, exclusive merchandise, exhibits, film screenings, cosplay, and interactive activities. It's the ultimate place for Star Wars fans to gather and geek out over the galaxy far, far away.

This year's celebration was hosted in Chicago and featured the official debut of Episode IX, which was revealed to be titled Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Fans were also treated to the film's first teaser trailer, which included an incredible surprise. Attendees also got a first look at Jon Favreau's live-action series The Mandalorian, which is coming to Disney+.

Of course, both The Rise of Skywalker and The Mandalorian will both be out by next year's event, leaving plenty of room for speculation as to what will be shown. Disney recently announced release dates for a number of new movies, confirming the next new Star Wars film won't be with us until December 2022. That film was later confirmed to be the one being written by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss.

With the time and place now set, all that's left is to experience The Rise of Skywalker on the big screen and then speculate about what comes next for the franchise. Tickets for Star Wars Celebration Anaheim will go on sale June 21 at 9:00 a.m. PT.

EVERY SAGA HAS A BEGINNING...

...AND AN END

@Forthas - Too bad the milking of the sea cow that grossed everybody including Rey out and the flashback that showed Luke ignite his saber to kill his nephew for his thought-crimes came before that Luke death scene. It ended in episode 6 as far as I'm concerned.

@ImmovableForce - Why not just move on? There were some mistakes made, but there is no reason to give up on the franchise. Just give them a chance to close it out in a satisfactory way.

@Forthas - This could have been a perfect ending to Episode IX and the Skywalker Saga:

Sadly it didn't go that way. But hey, at least as a stand-alone gif I can somewhat enjoy the shot.

@Kyos - That is a good point. Maybe i should have written "Every Journey has a beginning" so it would be specific to Luke. The Skywalker Saga is still technically ongoing as long as Kylo Ren exists.

@Forthas - My problem with Krasinski in the roll is the guy has a lot on his plate between directing/writing films, Jack Ryan on Amazon, and producing his movies. I don't see him as a long term actor for Marvel. He comes off as an Edward Norton type wanting creative control.

@SonOfAGif - The film would probably be released in 2021 at the earliest. This is enough time to clear his schedule and commit to the films. My issue is that I don't think either he or Emily Blunt fit the characters.

@LongMayHeReign - I think they will have a presence, but I know what you mean. It won't have the impact I think the organizers wanted.

So are they holding it at the Galaxy's Edge park then? That would be both fitting and dope if so.
