STAR WARS EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH 3D Gets New Release Date

The 3D re-releases of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith have now been brought forward slightly, with only two weeks separating them. Fox has also scrapped plans to bring Independence Day back to the big screen in 3D.

After the 3D re-release of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace earlier this year (which took the box office gross of the prequel to over $1 billion), Fox are moving ahead with plans to bring the following two instalments back to theatres next year. Originally slated for September 20th, 2013 and October 11th, 2013 respectively, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith has now been moved forward slightly to October 4th, 2013. When they are released next year, Attack of the Clones will be facing off against Rush (starring Chris Hemsworth), while Revenge of the Sith will battle it out with Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. In related news, Fox has decided to scrap plans for a 3D conversion of 1996 film, Independence Day (originally set to be released on July 3rd, 2013).

As inferior as they are to the originals, I must admit that I wouldn't mind seeing Episode 3 again. I bet the opening battle looks fab in 3D.

May wait for Episode 3, but thinking about the cringe worthy dialogue, and Manakin Skywalker is really putting me off.

at least the prequels did get better with each movie, episode 3 has some of the best action.even though when compared to the original trilogy its still average movie.

FOx wants to milk Star Wars for all it's worth before Disney releases it's installments. Now if only Disney could snatch up the Marvel characters at FOX. Same goes goes for the ones at Sony.

Yeah if only ironpool, then Disney would force the writers of the MCU to unnaturally squeeze Spider-Man, X-Men, and the FF into the timeline. For everyone who thinks the MCU would be better by added every possible character they have the writes to can think again. The Avengers was good because it was relatively small-scale compared to any Avengers comic book. Feige said himself, that movie makers can't just add every character the fans demand or the story would have a ton of different characters without any substance or back story. As far as I'm concerned, let Sony keep Spider-Man and Fox keep X-Men and FF.

The pod race scene in episode one could be cool in 3d.

Talking about sci-fi. Life on Mars?

Episode 3 is fantastic. Anakin vs ObiWan on lava planet is probably the best fight scene of the entire franchise

I bought my STAR WARS blu ray set before I bought my 3D TV (which I only bought because it was on sale).

After experiencing some really good conversions (AVENGERS, Captain America), I now really wish I'd waited for the inevitable 3D STAR WARS set.

I take offense when people lump ROTS in with the rest of the horrible prequels. Aside from a few lazy performances, Episode 3 fits in pretty well with the OT.

By the by, whenever I show the movies to my kids, we watch in this order:

4,5,3,6

Yes, we watch Ep 3 as a flashback between 5 and 6, and skip 1 and 2 entirely. Works pretty well, except for the throwaway line about Qui Gon in 3, which makes little sense without having seen Ep 1.

Did the £D improve PM at all?

Noass@ that's a good way to watch it especially if you've never seen it before. Think I'll do that this weekend, cheers bud.

4, 5, 2, 3, 6.
You kinda need 2, despite it's flaws, it does work better like this. Character relationships make more sense this way. And you have to see how the clone war begins to know how it ends. Episode 1 is really just irrelevant. It's all exposition that isn't needed.

This trilogy is crap, the only good movie was perhaps Ep II, but Ep I and III sucks.

WHY DIDN'T THEY KEEP ANAKINS EYES ALL SITH'ED OUT IN EP. 3 AFTER HE TURNED?!? THE MORE THEY COULD'VE ASSOCIATED HIM WITH DARTH MAUL THE BETTER!

I actually watched Ep 3 a few days ago. There are some pretty terrible acting moments in it but it's by far the best of the prequels.

It's also one of the worst performances by Samuel L. Jackson you'll ever see.

We've done the 4,5,3,6 viewing order 3 times now. I plan to show my kids parts 1 and 2 pretty soon -- sort of like appendices to the films they've already seen. They have been back in the STAR WARS-mania mode (much like I have) ever since they found out more movies were coming.

I refuse to pay money for this, I remember when I saw ep1 in high school that as soon as I heard the trader aliens say blockade to Naboo in that fake ass alien accent I knew the movie was bad.
I haven't watched the prequels since its theater debut.
Star Wars is timeless.
There aren't many movies that you can watch at age 5 and watch again at age 30 and be like wow its everything I remember it was and more, most movies I watched as a kid and recwatch as an adult and say damn I dont remember that being this awful, i was a dumb kid.

The biggest space battle ever happens at the beginning of Ep3 with a captured Chancellor above the planet. Yet at no point do they ever explain if that battle was won or lost let alone does anyone give a damn about the outcome below on the planet as everything just carried on as normal regardless of the battle happening.

These movies were the most badly contrived, written and performed excuses to make digital FX, ever. Positive proof that people will pay to see anything again and again as long as it has lots of visual spectacle, no matter how bad every other important aspect of the movie happens to be. When you have three piles of complete dog-poo and being told one turd is more polished or better than another turd; you should be aware it is actually a shit competition!

Movies that sucked the first time, converted into a format they weren't intended for? AND the tickets cost more, too?

I wanna see the original trilogy on the big screen! I saw Episode 3 in the cinema, and it was the first Star Wars film I ever saw. Best of the prequels, still incredibly inferior to the original films.
