STAR WARS: TFA Has Already Made $50M In Pre-Sales; Could Hit $100M By Release

The force is most definitely strong with this one. The other day it was confirmed that advance ticket sales for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens had reached $50 million, and now it's estimated that the total could double by the time the movie opens next month!

Most movies would be happy to open with $50M, but Star Wars: The Force Awakens already has that in the bank a month before its release. The J.J. Abrams-directed flick has broken the record for advance ticket sales (previously held by the first Hunger Games), and could well be on its way to becoming one of, if not the highest grossing picture of all time.

According to Deadline, that $50M figure could rise as high as $100M by December 18, because apparently Disney has only run a minimal part of its ad campaign. Yes, you may think you've seen quite a lot (more than enough?) from Finn, Rey and co. - but as we head into Thanksgiving promotion for the movie is expected to kick up a few more notches. Plus, fans are continuing to purchase advance tickets beyond opening weekend, through Christmas week and into 2016. Have you bought your ticket yet?

Starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o and Max von Sydow, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to be released on December 18th, 2015.
