THE DARK KNIGHT And THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER Star Christian Bale Hopes To Join STAR WARS Franchise

From the DC Universe to the MCU to a Galaxy Far, Far Away? Thor: Love and Thunder star Christian Bale has now revealed that he would love to join the Star Wars franchise. Grand Admiral Thrawn, anyone?

Despite being a former Batman, comic book fans were still shocked when Christian Bale signed up to join the MCU as Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder. Unfortunately, it didn't feel like Marvel Studios made the best use of the Oscar-winner, with the actor later confirming that at least two huge scenes - with Jeff Goldblum and Peter Dinklage - were cut.

Despite that, Bale clearly isn't closing the door on potentially starring in another big franchise as he made his interest in Star Wars known during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter (via SFFGazette.com).

"All I ever wanted in Star Wars was to be in a Star Wars outfit and hit my head on a door or something as I walked through," the actor admits. "The real nerds who watched Star Wars way too many times always knew about that one scene where the Stormtrooper hits his head on the door as he comes through. I wanted to be that guy. That was it."

"But look, if I’m fortunate enough to be more than that, oh man, yeah. What a delight that would be. I’ve still got the figures from when I was little," Bale continued, revealing his Star Wars fandom. "I also know Kathy Kennedy very well because she was working with Spielberg when I did Empire of the Sun, and now, she runs the Star Wars universe."

That sounds promising, and we have to believe Kennedy would jump at the chance to enlist an actor of Bale's pedigree to the Star Wars Universe (it would be pretty fun seeing him play Grand Admiral Thrawn in Ahsoka, right?). We don't know how serious the former Batman is being here, of course, but it does sound like this franchise is one he'd tick off the bucket list.

Looking to the future, Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron appears to have fallen apart, while we know movies are still - hopefully - in various stages of development from producer Kevin Feige and writer Michael Waldron, as well as Bale's Thor: Love and Thunder director, Taika Waititi.

Who would you like to see Bale play in this Galaxy Far, Far Away? Let us know in the comments section.

Is the Storm Trooper hitting his head thing like really commonly known general knowledge now or should Christian Bale get extra nerd cred for that reference?

Also I'd be so down for him joining Star Wars. I know he says here he'd be happy just to be an unidentified Storm Trooper but imagine him as a Sith Lord. It'd be incredible to see him given a really meaty villain role, someone as cunning and manipulative as Palpatine and as dangerous and imposing as Vader.

Cast him as Darth Bane in a Darth Bane movie. Make it about why the rule of two exists. Just don't fill it with comedy.

I wish they had included some more A-list cameos, such as Daniel Craig's, just for fun. It's not significant, but it makes so many people happy.

Thor 4 is almost unwatchable. The drizzling shits. But Bale is a great actor and would be a great Sith.

Nice. If it happens then hopefully he’ll get a better script for a Star Wars character than he did for Gorr. 👍🤞

I mean, he's gotta be a Jedi Knight, right? One who goes to the dark side? A Dark Jedi Knight.

Maybe in that High Republic show from the Loki showrunner.

Make his the villain in the next trilogy. Now that would be cool to see.

Whatever they cast him for though, I do wanna see it too. Dude is going for that holy trinity of pop culture.

Greatest Batman/Bruce Wayne ever and the best (only ) good thing in Thor Love and Thunder. He should strive to be in the Dune franchise which to me has one of the best directors in the game. He could play a key Fremen - Otheym?

Yeah, now you have started to put words in others mouth. And here's my "shocked" face when I read the news about Bale doing a MCU movie. 😛

I wish he'd do both. Play a main character, and a random Stormtrooper in the same movie.

He will probably be cast in Waititi's Star Wars movie if that still gets made. Hopefully after the Thor L&T disaster, Lucasfilm rethinks that plan though. I have zero interest in anything Waititi makes for now until he proves he can still make good films.
