The STAR WARS Saga Is Coming To Digital HD With Lots Of New Bonus Features

This Friday, all six previous movies in the Star Wars saga will be available for digital download via the usual online outlets including Amazon, iTunes, Google Play and XBox Video. Not a particularly exciting prospect for anyone who's seen the movies about a thousand times already (and let's face it, that's probably most of us!) but you will get the opportunity to check out some never-before-seen extras, including the documentaries Star Wars: Discoveries from Inside and Conversations, as well as 40 brand new deleted scenes.

Here's what Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy had to say to StarWars.com about the announcement. “We’re thrilled that fans will be able to enjoy the Star Wars saga on their digital devices wherever they go. These films broke new ground in technology, design, sound, and visual effects, and we’ve created some very special bonus material which delves into the saga’s rich history, including new and never-before-released conversations between legendary Star Wars artists — the masters who helped George bring his iconic universe to life.”

100% agree, people really need to stop taking fiction so [frick]ing seriously these days like it's gonna genuinely matter in their lives. Then again, this IS comic book movie.com, the place infested with [foo foo]s who think Yondu not having his big fin in a movie adaptation is worse than [frick]ing genocide.

Star Wars is undeniably one of the best, classic series ever made and we would like to see it without a bunch of stupid shit edited in without owning and bringing out a giant old-school TV and VHS player out of the attic. Not sure how that means we have no lives any more than anybody who posts on a website dedicated to fiction. I would like to know what qualifies MexicanSuperman having a life more than everybody else.

@Luigi

Wanting the OT un-edited is one thing, it's the c-u-n-t-s who treat the edits of the movies with the same disdain and intensity that a Muslim extremist would treat the burning of the Kuran like a bunch of [frick]wits is quite another. I don't think I'm exaggerating by saying that a sizable chunk of the SW community falls in the latter and needs to shut up and chill the [frick] out already. Then again these are likely the same people still bitching about Crisis on Infinite Earths rebooting DC 30 years later so reason or letting crap go seems to be beyond them.

3D Blu-Ray has still to hit Amazon, they are listed. What's next?, 4K trilogy?, 3d-4k trilogy? - 8k collectors edition with long lost footage suddenly found after nigh-on 40 years?....

Y..e..a..h...... don't bother Disney Lucasfilm. Have the Blu Ray original trilogy thanks.

@MexicanSuperman

I wish it were that simple. There was nothing wrong with the originals, everybody loved them back then. Come the late 90s, and the fans get disappointing special editions that ruin all the aesthetics of the originals. The special effects that the team in 77' worked on were disrespected and casually replaced, dialogue people grew to love changed, and even characters' personalities were changed with the additions. These all worsened as more changes were made. These fans, and me, aren't saying you can't change the Star Wars films; we would just like the provided option to have the unaltered and unchanged original films in high quality.
