The STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Trailer Featured An Ingenious Nod To RETURN OF THE JEDI

Some eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the amazing new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi featured a huge nod to a key moment in Return of the Jedi and you can find that Easter Egg after the jump...

The final trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi was nothing short of amazing. We've already combed through it to take a closer look at the five biggest questions it raises but did you notice a very specific Easter Egg referencing Return of the Jedi? In that movie, a stray blaster shot on Jabba the Hutt's barge scorched Luke Skywalker's robotic hand and if you look closely, the damage can still be seen there.

Luke clearly hasn't replaced his hand in the years which have passed since Darth Vader cut it off but the fate of his green lightsaber remains a mystery. Either way, this is a very cool reference to the past.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is shaping up to be something truly special and references like these are something fans of the franchise will definitely appreciate. How many more of these we'll get remains to be seen but when you take into account the fact that there are decades worth of history for this new trilogy to fill in, you can almost guarantee that there will be plenty. Did you spot this Easter Egg?

@CrazyCipher - I would have considered this to be more in line with what the article is talking about.

The damaged hand is more along the lines of normal continuity than an actual easter egg.

Having said that, wby wouldn't Luke have gotten that fixed in over 30 years? Lol.

@CorndogBurglar - He is a busy guy, he's got shit that needs doing.

Although i would argue that rens visage of vader is keeping consistent.

My aging eyes don’t see this damage. Which part of his hand, exactly, is damaged?

@Fogs - There's a plate right at the cuff of his robe, it's exactly at the right spot, if you follow it from where his thumb starts to the middle of his hand. I didn't even notice either, until I saw this article and inspected the picture.

We knew this already via The Force Awakens, just maybe not the reason for the unfinished robotic hand.

Lol while not an ingenious nod it's great to see the little threads that are throwback to the OT. I want to be connected to the last movies in light of how I feel the last one crapped on the originals.

All articles are now just taken from Reddit now, I see. Don't forget to post my visual comparison of Anakin marching on the temple VS Ben marching on Crait.

Deonox
Deonox - 10/11/2017, 7:12 AM
@gulducati - Pshhhh No! It's not a refernce to his arm getting cut off, its a reference to fake arm getting shot at and damaged
gulducati
gulducati - 10/11/2017, 7:44 AM
@Deonox - Yes, that's what I was referring to. The shot during the skiff battle in Return.

@gulducati - Then you sir should not compare your vision to us mere mortals. Guarantee you 92% of us didn't see that and only a quarter of the people who saw it, could put that connection together

As advanced as technology is in Star Wars, him still having that outdated hand must be like people who still have an iPhone 3GS. Update already! I’m sure you’re eligible
