The first teaser trailer for director D.J. Caruso's (Eagle Eye) adaptation of the I Am Number Four young-adult sci-fi novel by Pittacus Lore [the nom de plume of authors James Frey and Jobie Hughes] has been released. A Steven Spielberg-Michael Bay co-production, the I Am Number Four adaptation was written by Smallville creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and tells the story of a small group of survivors from the planet Lorien, who take refuge on earth after a devastating war nearly eradicates their species. Still hunted, the Loriens' only protection is a charm that prevents their pursuers from killing them unless done in a numerically sequential manner.

With three of the survivors dead, Number Four (Alex Pettyfer) takes on the guise of a human high school student and tries to hide out in Paradise, Ohio, under the protection of his guardian (Timothy Olyphant).

I Am Number Four opens February 18, 2011!

now if the creators of smallville had the money for smallville, like they do this movie, that show would kick even more ass.

Looks very promising. I see a budding movie franchise that will rival that damned Twilight. Looks like it will be quite a ride.

@deadpool72: That's funny that you added those because I just wrote them up as an article. I'm all about sci-fi, particularly original sci-fi. Looks good!

I did some freelance illustration work for this movie, so I'm really glad that it actually looks good. It's about time a movie filmed in Pittsburgh, that's not about zombies, was good.

they look promising but the premise of both sky line and #4 don't seem that interesting the way district 9 was.

Pretty sure we've seen this before. Looks like it should be on the CW, not that i have a problem with that network, but this looks silly.

Skyline:

if there is an alien Invasion, there got to be a Gordon Freeman.

@omegamojo: Nope, it was just released. Yeah, it makes sense that it has that CW vibe, considering it was written by the Smallville dudes and it's based on a young-adult novel.

Sci-Fi movies have taken the Alien invaders or Teenager superhero thing too far. I may check this out, though.

"Four" looks like it could end up being another "Push", in other words a suck fest that had a lot of potential. Best case scenario it ends up being like "Jumper"- entertaining when your bored, but something we will never hear about again.
