Evil Ink Comics have announced today that a big screen adaptation of their science fiction saga The Amory Wars (written by Claudio Sanchez of the band Coheed and Cambria) is in the works. Published by Boom! Studios, the film will be produced by Stephen Levinson's Leverage and Mark Wahlberg. The series focuses on the stories first told in all of Coheed and Cambria's albums; the band members serve as the primary characters. Below is the official announcement:

Claudio Sanchez and Evil Ink Comics announced today that they have partnered with Stephen Levinson's Leverage (Boardwalk Empire, Entourage, Contraband) and Mark Wahlberg to develop their graphic novel series The Amory Wars into a live-action feature film. The Amory Wars, a sci-fi saga published by Boom! Studios, recently reached #4 on the New York Times Bestseller List for graphic books.

The Amory Wars is an epic fantasy set in a futuristic alternate universe. The series chronicles the rise of superhuman dictator Wilhelm Ryan, and the one family that could hold the key to liberating the world from his tyrannical reign.

Below is a more detailed plot summary (via Wikipedia):

The Amory Wars is set in Heaven's Fence, a collection of 78 planets held in place by interconnecting beams of energy, known as the Keywork. The first half of the story narrates Coheed Kilgannon and Cambria Kilgannon's struggle against Wilhelm Ryan, the Supreme Tri-Mage (later referred to as the Archmage). The second half of the story focuses on the heroic journey of their son, messianic Claudio Kilgannon. Over the course of the story, Claudio assumes the mantle of The Crowing, foretold savior of Heaven's Fence. In the end, he will face the Archmage, absolute ruler of Heaven's Fence and the one ultimately responsible for the death of Claudio's family.

I'm so happy that other comics than just dc and marvel are being made into movies, just because those companies aren't as big as dc and marvel, doesn't mean their stories aren't better

This is pretty awesome news, fantastic even, I just hope they don't try to condense it into 1 or 2 movies, but I also hope it does well enough that they are able to complete the story.

Claudio Sanchez is an incredible talent. This storyline is pretty cool, what i have read of it, plus he can shred on guitar and has an incredible voice.

I am more into the music, though. I love Coheed and Cambria. Time Consumer and The Camper Velourium I: Faint of Hearts are my personal favorites, but I like most of their stuff, especially the first three albums.

Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

In short, for the murders of those I court,
I bless the hour that holds your fall...
