THE DARK TOWER: The Gunslinger Duels With The Man In Black In Epic New Trailer

A new international trailer for The Dark Tower has been released which features plenty of brand new action-packed footage as Idris Elba's Gunslinger goes to war with Matthew McConaughey's Man in Black.

The Dark Tower is almost upon us and for fans of Stephen King's work, that's very exciting news indeed. Serving as a sequel of sorts rather than a direct adaptation, it's hoped that the movie will launch both a franchise on the big screen along with a small screen spinoff. We'll just have to wait and see if that all pans out, but based on this new international trailer, we can expect this movie to deliver in a big way.

There's not a huge amount of new footage here but there are some great shots of Idris Elba's Roland Deschain in action as he takes aim at the sinister forces attempting to bring our world to an end.

That's clearly going to culminate with a battle between The Gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey's Man in Black which is a lot more action-packed than the ones we got in the books. With Spider-Man: Homecoming in
theaters and delivering at the box office, Sony Pictures will hopefully start upping the ante with the marking for this movie in the coming weeks. What do you think of this new trailer?

"I kill with my heart" - is that from the novel because that is some truly terrible writing. I'll give the movie a chance though it looks fairly watchable.

Might check this, but I can't seem to get hyped for it.

And really don't like Sony's practice of releasing additional international trailers for their films instead of just main ones (like other studios). Causes overload of footage and messes up the marketing.

SM: Homecoming had like 4-5 trailers because of that practice.

First trailer is better, but I'm still really wanting to see this. Here's hoping it's good. Sony has two good ones in a row this summer. Keep it up.

I've read 3/4ths of all of Stephen King's novels including The Dark Tower series. I highly recommend that my fellow comic book fans at least read Salem's Lot, The Stand, It, and then all 8 of The Dark Tower novels. It's the ultimate crossover macroverse, just like our heroes and villains crossing over in the comics. It's like The Lord of the Rings meets Clint Eastwood & Old Western novels meets Poltergeist meets Harry Potter/Voldemort. It's absolutely incredible and will draw you in. Anyone who says it's like Cowboys ands Aliens are way off base; that's a Saturday morning cartoon compared to The Dark Tower. If reading books aren't your thing, then try the graphic novel adaptation!

@dennist41 - I second. If I'm not mistaken, Insomnia has a connection to the last book in the series too. It's been a while though.

@stringslinger - Yes! How could I forget Insomnia!

Yeah, definitely try the comic, it might be anathema to some to say that the comic is better, because it's not the original work, but King has also worked on the comic, given his approval to everything, and to me it's flawless work. I would never have bought them again in Omnibus format if it wasn't.

I really hate that they are making Roland out to be some kind of superhero. I love Idris Elba, and I'm guessing he'll be great in this movie, but he is really miscast as Roland. They could have at least given him his hat.
