While not an adaptaion of
that Annihilation; the upcoming adaption of the critically acclaimed Horror, Fantasy, Sci-Fi novel by Jeff Vandermeer is already picking up traction from some of Hollywood's top talent.
Alex Garland is directing the film, hot off his success with 2015's
Ex Machina.
Annihilation is about a group of four female scientists who embark for an area known as Area X. A mission where past attempts have ended in death, disfigurement, cancer, and mental trauma.
Natalie Portman (
Thor: The Dark World) and Gina Rodriguez (
Jane The Virgin) have already joined the project. The Wrap now reports that Tessa Thompson, who had a great performance in 2015's
Creed is being eyed for another of the four main characters.
Paramount nor Thompson's reps would comment on the report. However with filming to being this Spring, it would seem that they'll confirm either way soon enough.
