The original Tron was released nearly thirty years ago. Now it looks like it will be getting a re-release.

Today at the Tron: Legacy Comic Con panel Legacy director Joseph Koskinski confirmed that there are plans to re-release the 1982 Tron and what’s more, they may re-release it in 3D.

When asked if the original Tron would get a 3D re-release Kosinski responded this way: “I think you can expect to see the original Tron in some pretty exciting formats very soon.”

Take note that he said "formats."

Tron: Legacy comes to theaters December 15th, 2010.
