Twitter Buzz: PROMETHEUS

Such a divide amongst moviegoers hasn't been witnessed in quite sometime; many people love the film yet an equal amount, decidedly didn't. Here's the best reactions from the twittersphere.

I was considering reviewing the film myself but there's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said by Ror, Josh and Wolvie. Instead I thought I'd try to show just how divided reactions to the film have been.

I think a couple of the folks above hit the nail on the head, regardless of whether you like or disliked the film, you're definitely talking about it. Personally, it's been years since I've seen any of the Alien films and I think that helped me enjoy Prometheus. The consensus seems to be that if you were expecting the movie to be similar in tone to the films that came before then you came away a tad bit disappointed. The film definitely has some loose ends to tie-up and acknowledges that with sequel-baiting ending but with a strong box-office performance I don't think we'll wait another 20 yrs before we get it.

Prometheus is a science fiction film directed by Ridley Scott and written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof. The film stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Charlize Theron. The plot follows the crew of the spaceship Prometheus in the year 2085, as they explore an advanced alien civilization in search of the origins of humanity.

Conceived as a prequel to Scott's 1979 science fiction horror film Alien, rewrites of Spaihts' script by Lindelof developed a separate story that precedes the events of Alien, but which is not directly connected to the films in the Alien franchise. According to Scott, though the film shares "strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak", and takes place in the same universe, Prometheus will explore its own mythology and ideas. Principal photography began in March 2011, with filming taking place in England, Iceland, and Spain. Prometheus is scheduled for release between May 30 and June 8, 2012 in various territories through 20th Century Fox.

MPAA Rating: Rated R for sci-fi violence including some intense images, and brief language
Starring: Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba and Patrick Wilson

Written by: Jon Spaihts, Damon Lindelof

Saw in 2D and everyone is telling me that was a mistake.

I don't think it matters tbh, it's filmed in 3D but at no point did i notice, so either there was no 3D or it was very subtle.

Saw IMAX 3D it was AWEsome.

Every movie has it's faults... my are minimal but they would include:

1) Not explaining the Engineers' hostility.

2) No explanation as to how the "Space Jockey" was in the pilot seat in Alien but left his seat to get Shaw.

Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm

It looks magnificent in 3D. The problem is that the characters are awfully written. Loved it otherwise.

The point of the 3D is that is IS seamless, you get lost in it. Definitely worth it.

Smart. Intense. (in that order)

And REALLY those ass clowns from Ghost Rider have the audacity to attempt to punk of Ridley Scott?!?! Well I have a response for them:

Maybe it's the Idiocracy-type present where those half-assed morons are considered by the studios the best directors available for Ghost Rider.

(There's [frick]ing TWO of them and they can't even make a HALFWAY decent movie to date!!!) SMH. Where's the Tylenol

This was a very good sci fi movie. Visually amazing. The haters were hoping for a bunch of Xenomorphs running around and thats been the problem with this franchise/world. This movie was intelligent and actor driven. Fassbender owns as David and straddles the line between android/human perfectly. Great performance from him. Theron was a bit wasted in this movie but thats minor. This movie left me wanting to see another. Can't wait for a sequel.

I made the mistake of watching Aliens for the first time two days before so I went in with the wrong expectations. I did enjoy the film but I felt it was lacking in some respects. It never hit the point of greatness I thought it would.

@Yossarian No the music in the movie was quite different. More relaxed, less intense and almost sounded to have some samples that to me were remeniscent of Star Trek.

Those dumbasses who made Ghost Rider 2 have no room to talk. When they make a coherent and respectable movie, then maybe I'll listen to them.

As for Prometheus, I enjoyed it, but it could have been so much better. Hopefully a sequel ties up all loose ends. Now I know how the fans of Lost feel.

I didn't think there would be a sequel to this but I sure do hope there is one.

Or at least a graphic novel it definitely left me wanting more.

i am not sure why you people love to hate on this film. if you where a true alien fan you will enjoy this, saying that i loved this film and i will buy it on blue ray. maybe i seen it 3D was really good Story was good but it was not the best. this is why hollywood dose not want to bring any new movies but not reboot due to people loving hate on new film

@R888 Recall looks like a Minority Report version of the original. I like it but I think its gonna go down a different road than Prometheus.

@yoss Lol. That shit was something else yesterday. I think it was probably someone who got their account deleted and wanted revenge. I seriously think there should be no report system at all. Just delete the really crazy people and let people deal with the rest on their own.

Or maybe just have an ignore feature.

The "you're talking about it" garbage has nothing to do with the what it is and everything to do with the build up, who made it, and why. It is not a valid argument.
