Here is the official description for Godzilla: Awakening:

Delve into an incredible mystery, generations in the making. At the dawn of the atomic age, humanity awakens lifeforms beyond imagination, unleashing monumental forces of nature. This explosive, larger-than-life adventure is the perfect way for fans to experience the new Godzilla before seeing it in theaters.


The Godzilla: Awakening comic book will be released on May 7th, 2014, nine days before the Godzilla movie reboot hits theaters.

I'm actually fine with this announcement and look forward to this. This is most likely to help bridge anything that that movie might not have time to explain or explore, while also helping introduce Godzilla to a new generation of fans within the same vicinity of the film's release. It's not exactly a bad or a cuunt move by any measures at all.

Eh, these prequel tie-in comics never tell a real story. They're just buildup, but rarely add anything to the movie.
