Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is now playing in theaters, and there's a lot of buzz surrounding the introduction of a new hero who is destined to become a member of the next incarnation of The Avengers.

Now, Captain Marvel star Brie Larson, who will soon reprise the role of Carol Danvers for The Marvels, has taken to Twitter to officially welcome the Master of Martial Arts and the man who brought him to life on screen, Simu Liu, to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

SPOILERS ahead!

If you've seen the movie, you'll know that Larson welcoming Liu to this shared world holds some significance, because Shang-Chi encounters Danvers in the mid-credits scene (more details here). Based on this sequence, there's a decent chance Captain Marvel, along with Wong and Bruce Banner, will return for Shang-Chi's next big-screen outing as he and Katy begin to navigate the wider MCU.

Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. The film also stars Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng.

Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and produced by Kevin Feige and Jonathan Schwartz, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and Charles Newirth serving as executive producers.

I didn’t mind her as much in the previous movies like others did, but I really liked her character in this short scene a lot more than in her previous appearances. Her character didn’t seem very ‘stiff’ anymore; feels like they allowed her to be a bit more charismatic (i know its just a short scene)

@MeAreLegend - I think a lot of it may be the fact that it doesn't feel like they are trying to make the next leader of the Avengers and the main focus of things, like the original plan was. I don't think many fans were on board with her suddenly becoming such a huge deal out of no where.

Now that it feels like Falcon-Cap will likely be the leader of the New Avengers I think her character is a much easier pill to swallow.

I have a feeling Brie put in a good word with Feige to help get Cretton the directing gig, and from the looks of it (I haven't seen Shang Chi myself yet) they made the right choice!

Even 13 years in, I still get a thrill seeing fellow superheroes pop up in a new superheroes movie, when I saw Bruce and Carol, I was like, oh you joined the big time now son

Also, Trevor and Morris, my new favourite team up haha Iron Man 3 has actually improved because of this movie

@dancingmonkey08 - I agree, but I also want some characters to just have their own movies taking place in their own corner of the MCU, away from the Avengers

Blade, for instance. Or if they do a Punisher movie. I don't need any Avengers or other superheroes showing up in those movies. If they want to have some guest star in one of their sequels down the line, that's fine, as long as it makes sense. But I really don't need to see every single character join the Avengers.

Same with X-Men. I would like to show them meet the Avengers and establish that they are allies. But I would really prefer them to be doing things on their own, in their own corner of the MCU. And then showing up for big events, like End Game, or Secret Wars. But that should be it.
