After another successful weekend at the box office, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings managed to surpass the domestic totals of both A Quiet Place Part 2 and F9: The Fast Saga. However, Deadline has now revealed that the movie will soon top Black Widow's $183.2 million haul.
As of right now, the latest Marvel Studios movie has earned $176.9 million, meaning it's a week or so away from becoming the highest-grossing movie at the U.S. box office this year.
Shang-Chi is also likely to become the first 2021 movie to hit the $200 million mark in the U.S.
We're still waiting on updated worldwide numbers, but the latest Phase 4 release did recently hit $250 million (on September 12). These are unprecedented times for the box office with COVID-19 still causing problems across the globe, and unfortunately for Shang-Chi, it probably won't be released in China, which is reportedly a result of past comments from star Simu Liu about the country.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was released exclusively in theaters with a 45-day window, so we should be able to watch it at home on Digital platforms as soon as mid-October.
In our latest review of the movie, we concluded by saying, "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is nothing short of action movie perfection; this is the MCU like you’ve never seen before, and it’s no exaggeration to say Simu Liu was born to play the MCU’s newest Avenger."
