Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was met with widespread critical acclaim when it arrived in theaters back in September, but that hasn't stopped the Screen Junkies crew from giving the Marvel Studios movie the "Honest Trailer" treatment.
Before getting to this Phase 4 title, though, they lay into the studio for pandering to Chinese audiences with 2013's Iron Man 3 (if you haven't seen the scenes added to the Middle Kingdom's version of the movie, you're in for a treat). From there, they poke fun at the similarities between the Ten Rings and the MCU's other secretive organisations, while wondering why everyone is pretending Iron Fist never happened - though the reason for that is pretty obvious when you think about it.
There is also a lot of praise for Shang-Chi, however, which is no great surprise when the movie does so much right.
The star-studded mid-credits scene does come under fire for shoehorning in some big cameos, but beyond that, it's fair to say this "Honest Trailer" struggles to highlight many negatives. Plus, it's all in good fun, so best to not get too offended by anything they point out along the way.
"Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is nothing short of action movie perfection," we said in our review a little earlier this year. "This is the MCU like you’ve never seen before, and it’s no exaggeration to say Simu Liu was born to play the MCU’s newest Avenger."
