With social media reactions doing the rounds and fan screenings right around the corner, it feels like excitement for the release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is at an all-time high.
As with every Marvel Studios blockbuster, we've been treated to a lot of posters over the past few months (some better than others), but we'd argue that Matt Ferguson's effort is the best one yet! While Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), Katy (Awkwafina), and Xialing (Meng'er Zhang) are all featured, it's Wenwu (Tony Leung) who looms largest in the background of this artwork.
Better known as "The Mandarin" in the comic books, the villainous leader of the Ten Rings has the potential to be a recurring presence in the MCU moving forward. Whether that's the plan remains to be seen, but watching this powerful baddie clash with his son promises to be a lot of fun.
Take a look at this new poster for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings below:
"Marvel Studios' 'Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings' stars Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization," reads a brief synopsis shared by Marvel Studios a couple of months ago.
The movie also stars Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by David Callahan, Destin Daniel Cretton, and Andrew Lanham the movie is currently set to be released exclusively in theaters on September 3, 2021.
