Though Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce plans for a sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the trades reported that a follow-up was in the early stages of development shortly after the first film was released.
Updates have been few and far between since, but director Destin Daniel-Cretton did confirm that he has some ideas for a second film last year.
"There are a lot of ideas that we had in the opener, and some of those ideas are planted as questions, by the end of our movie. There are things that we potentially want to explore in the future. Everything changes so much, so it’s hard to say how many of those ideas will actually make it to the finish line, but there are many of them there."
Now, star Awkwafina has now shared her excitement to reprise the role of Katy, while seemingly indicating that Cretton has let her in on some of his plans.
"If it does happen, I'm just really excited to see where Katy will go," the Quiz Lady star tells Screen Rant. "I think Destin is such an amazing filmmaker, working with him was incredible on the first Shang-Chi. I really think that he might have something exciting, so I'm very excited for that."
Katy came into her own during the movie's final battle, and Wong implied that The Avengers had shown interest in her as well as Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) in the post-credits scene - although we can't see her suiting-up with Earth's Mightiest Heroes when they face-off against Kang (providing he's still around) in the next Avengers movie.
Are there any particular comic book arcs you'd like to see adapted for a Shang-Chi sequel? Are you looking forward to seeing Katy again? Be sure to drop us a comment down below.
