Like every other Marvel Studios movie, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been hit by a series of delays, but production finally wrapped in San Francisco last week. Now, the post-production stage begins, and star Simu Liu recently took to Facebook (via The Direct) to share his thoughts on what fans can expect from the Master of the Martial Arts' big screen debut.
"Nine months from now, we will break records and make history as the first superhero movie to feature an ALL-ASIAN cast that kicks so much ass it's not even funny," the actor began. "Well - that's a lie, actually, it's quite funny too. For all of us who have hated the colour of our skin, or been made to feel less than because of it; NO MORE."
"This is OUR movie, and it will be IMPOSSIBLE for Hollywood to ignore us after this," Liu continued. "I'll see you then. But probably sooner actually because I'm always on here lollll."
It's easy to see why he's excited for fans to see Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, especially as, like Black Panther before it, it stands a chance to make history and break down some barriers in Hollywood. Marvel Studios has revealed next to nothing about the movie since it was announced, and we probably would have seen - or been about to see - the first trailer by now had COVID-19 not caused the entire Phase 4 slate to slip down the calendar.
For now, we'll just have to be patient, but stay tuned for more details on the movie as we have them!
