SHAZAM Director David F. Sandberg Had A Perfect Response To Claims The DC Films Universe Is Over

Justice League may have underperformed at the box office this past weekend but is it true that Warner Bros. is planning on pulling the plug on the DC Films Universe? Here's what David F. Sandberg thinks...

Since Justice League hit theaters, we've heard a lot of conflicting reports about what comes next for the DC Films Universe. Well, one Reddit user has claimed that "sources" at Warner Bros. have told him that the plan is to now shelve these comic book movie and will take five years off from making any more of them until they can figure out where to go next. It sounds pretty damn ridiculous, right?

Well, it's not uncommon to see reports like this do the rounds on various entertainment websites and now Shazam director David F. Sandberg (a regular over on Reddit) has now weighed in on the matter.

"Nobody told me," he responded to the clearly fake claim. "Can I take the day off tomorrow then? I really want to sleep in." As you no doubt already know, Sandberg is hard at work on Shazam, a movie which stars Zachary Levi in the title role. Shooting on that is expected to begin next year and seeing as it's being developed jointly with New Line, it may not be connected to the DC Films Universe anyway.

What do you guys think comes
next for this shared world? As always, share your thoughts below.

@DoubleD - It's still a shared universe, but don't expect Batman to appear in Aquaman. They would have to completely retool Aquaman and recast Jason Momoa and Amber Heard to set the movie in its own universe. It also makes zero sense to have Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman, etc. in their own universe with no other heroes. That's even dumber than their Flashpoint idea.

I really think that Aquaman,Batman standalone and Shazam can redeem the DCEU.

I have a feeling that Shazam is going to be a really great movie. I think It’ll be the one that bucks the trend of current DC movies.

All this rumor mongering is so shitty.

Now that Snyder can get out of here, Patty, Wan, David and Reeves are good directors with good properties, i don't see a dark future unless WB [frick] shit up once again.

@MCUForever - I still think they should just reboot for better freedom. Wan talking about getting rid of air pockets and different atlantis, matt reeves wanting a new batman, pretty much is proof they want something different.

@CreepyCipher - Kinda funny how everything that is happening with WB and DC is almost an exact mirror of what's happening for Marvel currently.

@MCUForever - so... your saying marvel is having just as much trouble behind the scenes as WB. because.. that's what mirrors do.. they show the same thing back.

I'm confused.

@BloodyBed - A mirror shows a reverse image...which I'm fairly certain is his point.

Just please keep Snyder and Ayer away from any future involvement.

These executives who keep telling directors to cut out half the movie need to stay out of it.
