No one seems entirely sure what's going on with Madame Web, though a recent plot leak indicated that the title character's mission will be to protect a pregnant Mary Parker. We're guessing she ultimately fails, hence why Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters doesn't have a Spider-Man, but this fresh spin on Peter Parker's earliest days, well, it's bound to be controversial.

That's been the case with the studio's approach to these movies from the start, and Madame Web could cement its lead as a character vital to the wider Marvel Multiverse.

Of course, attempts to capitalise on Marvel Studios' current approach to storytelling backfired on Sony spectacularly with Morbius. That came after a widely derided post-credits scene saw Adrian Toomes arrive on the Living Vampire's world for no discernable reason.

Regardless, a photo from the set of Madame Web showing the movie's logo has got fans talking today. As you can see, it features a familiar red and blue colour scheme that instantly makes us think about Spider-Man. Whether this is confirmation those plot leaks are correct remains to be seen, though we definitely think the colour choice is noteworthy.

Dakota Johnson has already been cast as Cassandra Webb, while other recent additions include Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, and Adam Scott.

In the comic books, Madame Web is typically portrayed as an elderly woman who is blind and linked up to a life support system that resembles a web. She has psychic abilities and frequently uses other heroes to fight her battles, leading to speculation that this movie is actually some sort of female-led team-up.

S.J. Clarkson (The Defenders) is directing Madame Web from a screenplay by Morbius scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. The movie is currently expected to swing into theaters on February 16, 2024.
