MORBIUS' Official Twitter Seemingly Joins In On "It's Morbin' Time" Meme To Promote The Film's Re-Release

Morbius is going back to theaters after becoming an extremely popular meme. Now, Morbius' Twitter account has seemingly acknowledged the online movement to promote the movie's re-release.

Morbius arrived earlier this year with significantly negative critical reception, earning a 17% Tomatometer score. The Jared Leto-led adventure fared better with regular moviegoers, receiving a 71% audience score. The movie also seemingly did not meet box office expectations, making $163 million worldwide — a far cry from Venom's $856-million and Venom: Let There be Carnage's $506-million global hauls.

Being only the third film in Sony's nascent Spider-Man universe, Morbius' monetary and critical outcome was not ideal for the franchise. In a surprising twist, however, the Living Vampire has somewhat found new life after coming out on Digital. Upon its home-media release, the film became Apple TV's #1 film. Shortly after that, the movie gained traction when Twitter users got the "It's Morbin' Time" meme trending on the social-media platform.

Following that, the Living Vampire is making his way back to theaters, as initially revealed by Exhibitor Relations Co. Now, it appears Sony has joined in on the internet joke that Morbius has gradually become.

To promote the movie's re-release, the official Morbius Twitter account posted a tweet asking fans whether they new what time it was, accompanied by a video loop of Michael Morbius checking his watch — an apparent reference to the previously mentioned "It's Morbin' Time" meme:

Per Exhibitor Relations Co., Morbius will be playing in over 1,000 theaters. For those interested in watching the film on the big screen (either for a second viewing or for the first time), you can see the showtimes available near you on Fandango (not sponsored) and/or any other ticketing service available in the United States.

There is no official word on a Morbius sequel yet, but it seems that, prior to the film's original realease, there was some planning behind the scenes to possibly give Sony's newest antihero a second adventure.

Speaking with ComicBookMovie earlier this year, Jared Leto revealed that, while they were eager to have Michael in his comic-book costume, the creatives behind the film decided to save the attire for a potential sequel:

"[We] talked about [giving Michael Morbius a costume], and we decided, for the first film, it probably wasn't gonna happen. But there are some pretty great examples in the early comics and ideas of where we could go in the future if we suited up. That could be a lot of fun, actually."

With that, and the recent cult following attained by the film, a sequel to Morbius may not be out of the question. For now, Sony's Spider-Man Universe already has a strong slate on the horizon, with Kraven the Hunter, Madame Web and Venom 3 in development

Aside from this re-release, Morbius is also available to purchase on Digital.
