MORBIUS Star Jared Leto Reveals Whether He Plans To Don The Living Vampire's Classic Costume (Exclusive)

Michael Morbius has a very distinct costume in the comic books, and Morbius star Jared Leto has now revealed whether that was ever considered for this movie and if he'd suit up somewhere down the line...

Later this week, fans will finally bear witness to Oscar-winner Jared Leto's latest comic book transformation as he becomes the Marvel Universe's Living Vampire in Morbius. The character has a storied history in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man, but is going it alone in the Sony Pictures release.

In the movie, we find Dr. Morbius ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering the same fate. A desperate gamble at first seems to be a radical success, but a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?

Throughout his many appearances on the page, Dr. Michael Morbius usually wears a unique, dare we say it, flamboyant costume. Talking to Leto last week about his role in the movie, we wondered whether that classic look was ever considered for the anti-hero's upcoming big screen debut.

"We talked about it, and decided for the first film it probably wasn’t gonna happen," Leto confirms in the video above when asked about suiting up. "There are some pretty great examples in the early comics and ideas of where we could go in the future if we suited up. That could be a lot of fun actually. I like a lot of those elements. The artwork for me was a great source of inspiration."

So, no costume in this movie (which we expected), but the actor is clearly open to the idea. There were once rumours that the outfit might factor into Morbius, but that alleged plot leak appears to have been a fake based on what we've seen in the trailers. With this origin story out of the way, a sequel or any other future project could easily give Michael that classic look, though we'd expect a few tweaks!

Check back here soon for more from Leto and to read our review of the Marvel Comics adaptation.

Morbius will be released in cinemas on March 31.
