SPIDER-MAN 4: It Sounds Like Tom Holland Is Close To Signing A Huge New Deal For His Long-Awaited MCU Return

All signs appear to be pointing to Tom Holland swinging back into the MCU as Spider-Man, with rumblings that the actor is nearing a deal to play the web-slinger over multiple movies. Check it out...

During the press tour for Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland made it clear that he needed to take a break from playing Peter Parker. It was understandable as he'd first suited up as the character in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, reprising the role in 2018, 2019, and then 2021.

In other words, his career was devoted almost solely to the web-slinger for nearly half a decade, but that time off might be shorter than anticipated.

Various online "scoopers" have been taking to Twitter to tease that an announcement about him signing a new Spider-Man deal with Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios is imminent. There are already rumblings Spider-Man 4 is taking aim at a 2024 release, so this news isn't exactly a surprise (we'll also spare you having to see any insufferably smug vague Tweets).

We can, however, tell you that Holland's involvement in a new Spider-Man trilogy and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars is looking likely. Despite rumblings the actor will have a cameo role in Daredevil: Born Again, it remains doubtful that we'll see this version of the web-slinger on Disney+.

Whatever form this deal takes, we do hope it doesn't involve Spidey being part of Sony's own Marvel Universe. After Morbius laid the groundwork for a heroic Sinister Six with a universe-displaced Vulture, it seems fair to say the studio really doesn't know what it's doing with the hero when Kevin Feige isn't lending a helping hand.

Earlier this year, The Cosmic Circus - a reliable source for news - reported that Spider-Man 4 is eyeing up a July 2024 release date. It was also said that the movie will likely pick up in the aftermath of Daredevil: Born Again, with the black alien costume expected to come into play down the line.

Are you excited about seeing more Spider-Man in the MCU?
