RUMOR MILL: Marvel Studios Might Be Secretly Shooting SPIDER-MAN 3 And SPIDER-MAN 4 Back-To-Back

There's not a lot to this rumor, but there are some rumblings online that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures might be filming Spider-Man 3 and Spider-Man 4 back-to-back. That would explain a whole lot!

In "Rumor Mill," we share the hard to buy rumours that don't come from reliable sources like the trades, but are still more believable (just) than what you might find on Reddit.

If all the rumors are to be believed, Spider-Man 3 might have an even bigger cast than Avengers: Endgame. Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus), and Jamie Foxx (Electro) have been confirmed by the trades, while reliable sources point to Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man), Willem Dafoe (Green Goblin), Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man), and several others appearing.

That's a lot of characters for one film, but what if we're actually getting two?

There are rumors circulating on social media that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are, in fact, shooting two films back-to-back, and occasional scooper Caleb Williams added fuel to the flames with the Tweet below.

It's impossible to judge the validity of this rumor, but an epic, two-part Multiverse film sounds like it could be something special. Sony is likely to be accutely aware of COVID impacting productions, and with director Jon Watts moving on to Fantastic Four, the studio would surely be happy having two Spider-Man films ready to release once theaters re-open and ticket buyers are hungry for blockbusters.

Don't get your hopes up, but keep checking back here for the latest on this one.

@Waddles - so this whole time he was throwing all these rumors out there hoping one would be true? No that isn't true. Josh is an honorable man who would never put something online if it wasn't substantial news.

@TheWalkingCuban - i meant tony stark shows up at the end of incredible hulk (2008) which counts as 10 appearences by him in total.
I wasnt talking about recasting

@TheWalkingCuban - Since, Multi-Verse is becoming a thing, what if they bring back Edward Norton's hulk?

@RokoVII - no no I understood I was saying that maybe some people don’t count it, and in a nutshell I used recasting as an overall reason, though there are a few other reasons people use. I disagree with those people, I count it.

@ShellyMando - hmm... that’s interesting but his side characters are in the main universe, and they are reappearing, so it’d be like, why do it?

Would make sense, if they want to first do the Spider-man as a fugitive as payoff from FFH credit scene and then lead into a Spider-verse adaptation. Doing both of those at the same movie would be kind of a waste.

@Odin - maybe that's why the 2 Spiderman are in the third act fight only (as per the rumor). They help out here and then go "you wanna help us save the multiverse" then Spiderman 4.
