As of today, Jamie's deal still isn't final according to this report from Access who spoke to him at GQ Magazine's Men of the Year 2012 party in Los Angeles. However, the 44-yeard-old Foxx says the deal is "in the works" and that he has his "fingers crossed [that] everything works out".

So what's the motivation behind the Best Actor Academy Award winning thespian even stepping into a role that doesn't necessarily fit his filmography to date?

“I have a little daughter, 4 years old, and what’s crazy is like, this past year she had a birthday where Spider-Man was the theme. I haven’t sprung it on her yet, but she will go crazy!”

That would certainly explain why he's pursuing such a different role from what we're accustomed to seeing him portray. Should Foxx be confirmed for the role the next bit of speculation will be on whether Webb can coax a serious, 'Collateral/Ray'-esque effort from Foxx? Or if that is even the tone the film is going after for Electro for that matter. Hear the actor himself below and his description on the powerful story in Django Unchained.
