The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be directed by Marc Webb from a script written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. The film will star Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Jamie Foxx is Electro and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn. The Amazing Spider-Man sequel will swing into theaters May 2, 2014.

@ TonyChu - She's really good looking, I hope my next girl looks just like her. The problem isn't that she's not good looking to the people who keep saying she doesn't look the part, the problem is that she doesn't look like the drawing of Mary Jane.

When are people going to learn that little to no one looks like the characters in comicbooks, and when they do, they can't act worth a damn, is a mystery to me.

All I know is that all the people bashing Shailene couldn't get her if they were the last men on Earth.

My only gripe with her as MJ as I have stated a few times is she looks a little too young for the part. Comparing her to Garfield and Stone she looks considerably younger but as I say once again camera work can make that problem go away.

@JoeMomma you'd prefer Christina Hendricks, who's almost 40, to play a teenager than Shailene Woodley, who is only just older than a teenager? I've only seen her in Drive, and her acting wasn't particularly special. And she barely resembles even the comic book MJ, so that argument is invalid (not that it would be particularly valid if she did look more like MJ than Woodley did) she just happens to be a busty redhead.

At least Jane Levy's more age appropriate than Hendricks, but is her acting better than Woodley's? Haven't seen enough of either to compare. But my money would be on Woodley, at least for this kind of role.

Woodley will do fine. She's talented. She looks great. Only problem is she looks too young next to Garfield and Stone, but hopefully that won't be too apparent in the movie.

I can see MJ in this film having some of the dynamic Gwen had in the Ultimate comics - basically, that she'll become Peter's friend and get along with Aunt May, maybe even stay at their house when her parents are fighting (assuming they keep her abusive parents from the mainstream comics) and Gwen will get jealous - it'll be like a role reversal of the Ultimate versions Gwen and MJ.

Although, obviously things will end differently this time around, as Gwen will die and Peter will eventually move on to MJ (whereas in the Ultimate comics Peter stayed with MJ and Gwen died anyway).

@Acira I would prefer a 40 year old over Woodley! Again to clarify I do not think she is ugly she is very attractive but she is not a MJ!

I understand no movie is going to stay true to the content or look of the comics, but they have strayed far left on this one if you ask me. Then again what am I saying their choice for Peter Parker sucks as well!
