Andrew Garfield On The Pressure Of Playing Spider-Man!

Andrew Garfield On The Pressure Of Playing Spider-Man!

Not much in the way of new information about the upcoming movie but hit the jump to hear more from the actor on what it was like to discover that he'd won the role of a lifetime as the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man...

"When I found out about being cast in 'Spider-Man', it was like this bubble developed around me," the actor said when he was once again quizzed about being told that he'd won the role of Peter Parker in the Marc Webb directed reboot.

"I was floating in it for a while. And then, suddenly, it evaporated, and I was like, 'Well, I'm just an actor. I don't get to actually be Spider-Man.'"

"But maybe I'll have moments where I'm convinced that I am and those periods of fantasy will get me through." Garfield then went on to talk about how he plans on coping with landing such a huge role: "I think it's going to be a little bit more complicated than what I imagined!"

"And, of course, I'm going to feel a great pressure, which might be one of Peter Parker's great struggles, in having to live up to this thing that he is supposed to be or symbolises. It will be interesting. I think the more I can tie into my own reality, the better and more enriching it will be for everyone involved."

Spider-Man 3D is set to be released on July 3, 2012!

He should also answer to the many fans who are against this Reboot.

He'll do a better job portraying Peter Parker than Tobey Maguire did. Marc Webb will definitely show all the sides of PP just like in the comics

Airbeyonder18 - Why the hell should he have to answer to the fans against the reboot? It's not him who's making the movie. Bitch at the studio.

dude seriously idk why people keep bitching about the reboot. U guys remember spiderman 3 right??? Emo peter parker??? Gay ass SandMan! Retarded [frick]ing venom!!! I mean the list of failures goes on!!!!! So stop bitchin about it and at least try to be optimistic about a movie you know very little about!!!

You should feel pressure, because if you mess up, your gonna be remembered as the guy who ruined Spider-Man

Areajerm@ I remember Spider-man 2 very well. It was my favorite out of the trilogy. Seriously though spiderman 3 was much more than a little mishap. I understand the emotion and anger a lot of people are feeling, but sitting around saying [frick] the reboot isn't really going change anything. So I say we give this version of spiderman a chance. Garfield is a good actor. Marc Webb is a decent director. So this movie has some hope in it.

Anyways, anything we get will be better than that horrific piece of crap that is spiderman 3 =)

I've been waiting to use that awesome piece of Marcos Martin art for days, lol! :P I think he'll do just fine as Spider-Man. It's the script and director that I have concerns over!

Mark Strong hit the nail on the head with what he said of Garfield. He doesn't need any advice, and he certainly doesn't need to answer to the fans. His work and talent speak for him. Thus far, I have confidence in him and Marc Webb to deliver. Hopefully that confidence remains intact.

wonders how this reboot will play out.
but what weird that i just thought about, but does anybody else notice that Tobey Maguire captures Spider-Man's personality better in the video games than he does in the movies?
