Confirmed: 3D Spider-Man Reboot Release Date!

Is this a surprise to anyone? Really? Any takers for being surprised out there?

This from Deadline.com:

"CULVER CITY, Calif., February 10, 2010 – Spider-Man will swing into theaters worldwide in 3D beginning July 3, 2012, it was announced today by Jeff Blake, Chairman of Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution. The new film which is still untitled, will begin production later this year directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt. Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin will produce the film from Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios."

There is no need for gimmicks in this movie! Spider-Man will look glorious swinging through New York in 3D all by his self!!!

Now all we need is an official confirmation for Pete to be cast and for Mary Jane to be cast and for the Villain to be announced! There is a lot of 'and for's' in there. Stay tuned for further updates!



UPDATE: Looks like Spidey will be going up against the likes of Star Trek 2! 2012 is shaping up looking nice!

I don't know about all those 3'D's...... I've seen 3D-avatar yesterday, and it was more than great, but....
what made the 3D so great was the amazing ferry-tale like landscape.... the fight scenes wheren't the Oh's and Ah's in the cinema in 3D..... so, yeah, spidey swinging in the streets.... will be great, but that's only a very small part of the movie(s).

so I have my doubts.... but as a bonus I sure would go see it!

I think all comic fans should paint a bullseye on their asses and wait for the inevitable f**k that's coming our way. The word rape comes to mind when I think about how these studios get away with f**king us so much. Can't these f**king studios look at how Favreau, and Nolan master worked their respective films. Seems now that anytime the studio realizes the mistakes they've made, they want to take out the big eraser and start over. Why can't they get the f**king job right the first time. if they are not able to film a movie correctly then leave it to a directer who gives a f**k about the material.

well I think that's a lot of crap! I wonder if any of you guys watched avatar?? maybe you should ,and maybe go see it without prejudice!! if you think that avatar 3D sucks...... than your a MINORITY with capital M!!! look at the numbers of people who've seen it and the reactions,reviews and oscar nominations!! and then you really wanna tell me with dry eyes that it sucks????

Ánd here it comes like a said before..... not every movie is fit out for 3D..... but certain movies, like star trek, king kong, or jurassic park...... wll I would love to see them!!

I'm with you LEE. I hate this idea for a reboot.

However.......


If this movie looks anything like the pic in the article, I might give it a look. Also if anyone has been on the Spider-Man ride at Universal Studios, you already know how cool Spidey could be in 3D.

Dare I say, this might be as close as we're gonna get to swinging WITH spidey.

And no, no one said avatar sucked.....but that 3D movies suck..... well.....one and one =two!!

and if avatar 3D is great....... so can be other's!!!

but as I said.... as it goes for me only with spectacular landscape's or space in it!!!

imagine walking through pre-historic forrests and seeing a T-rex running to you....!!! or those amazing space-effects in star trek when the hostile vessel comes out of the black hole!!! or looking up to king kong!!

@deathwalker...... and all the others(in case you don't know..) philips is working on a 3D tv where you don't have to wear glasses!!!! it will be on the market in 2012...!! (I can't promise you that!!haha) AND IT GETS'BETTER!!! they probably will also release software to convert flat into 3d!!!! mayor set back for the movie-studios!!

Wearing 3D glasses over normal glasses is uncomfortable, annoying and distracting - I still enjoyed Avatar though! (The Hurt Locker should kick its ass in the Oscars though..!)

I really dont think that Spider-Man should be in 3D - isnt the budget small enough already!? I can see us having a lame villain like Chameleon at the moment to save cash, lol! :P

WEBB can ignore a lot of SPIDEY 3, recast everyone (If they must) but we need new villains, KRAVEN, LIZARD, ELECTRO, etc etc, not another [frick]ing GREEN GOBLIN, DOC OCK etc.

Yep CHOICE, then everyones happy, well as long as they don't do a JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH or MY BLOODY VALENTINE and force 3D on us with no story lol!!
