Here are 3 things that I think shouldn't be in the reboot.

I still can't believe they are going to reboot the Spider-Man movie franchise. And why on earth would they go with Ultimate? Well, since this IS happening, here are three things to keep it from becoming a rehash of the first film, and to make a decent movie.

1. Skip the origin. Spider-Man's origin is the most well-known origin in comic book history. (Maybe even more than Superman's) Instead, go with the way the 90's Spider-Man or Spectacular Spider-Man show went. Just start the movie out with a bunch of robbers, and he webs them up.

2. Keep away from high school drama. Since this film is taking place in high school, the "drama" should be kept at low scale.

3. Don't make Peter immature. In the Ultimate universe, Peter Parker is not exactly as mature as his 60's counterpart. Keep him nice, smart, and caring.

And those are three things that I think shouldn't happen in the film.

I agree with the origin. Been there, done that. Incredible Hulk confirmed the fact that you can show an origin without having to take up 3/4 of the film.

As far as drama goes, they've already said that the teenage angst and emotion will be a larger part of the character and story, so you're S.O.L. on that one bud.

Immature? No. Smart ass? Yes. That was one of the major things that Raimi's/Tobey's Spiderman was missing, was the wise cracking joker that Spiderman should be.

Hey...1 out of 3 ain't bad though. ;)

I think they're going to do the origin again. We as comic book fans have been through the origin several times throughout the comics, animated shows and the movies. But to the average none comic book fan(most of the world), they haven't went through it as much as we have.

There have been three major media incarnations over the last 25 years. The 90s animated series, the movies and Spectacular Spider-Man.As you mentioned, the origin was only slightly touched upon in the series, though the movie did spend time on it.

Now, while I'd prefer they skip the origin, it's kinda unreasonable to start a franchise with the expectation of everyone already knowing the origin of the character.A general rule of media is if it didn't happen on screen, it's not canon.Alot of characters have so many different origins , so you need to nail down which one you're using. It's like when people say we've heard Superman's origin so many times that they can skip it in the movie.Well, the very fact that there is about 6 different origins means you need to let your audience know which one you're following.

Most likely whatever villain they used will be tied into Peter getting his powers, so I can see them choosing the origin.

@Anil Rickly I don't mind if they do the origin again, I just can't stand that it's Ultimate.

@LEE777 I'm not blaming the director, I'm blaming the script.

There is nothing wrong with Ultimate Spider-Man. Know what? Scratch that. Ok, there are some thing wrong like how characters are portrayed. I hate that and they made Venom a tentacle monster. HELL NO! Thats my favorite [frick]ing character and they portrayed him like that and the carnage story??? There are things that make me sick but the story for the Wall Crawler is entertaining. I like his story and I do love the way they made everyone's suits. At least give them that

I have an idea of how they could make a good Spider-Man reboot don't reboot it at all that is how they can make it great!

Everybody is taking this "teenage angst" quote too seriously. They were just trying to say that Ultimate Spider-man is about more than just Spider-man fighting a random bad guy. It goes into his personal struggles. WIth just about every other superhero movie we like to have the characters have depth and deal with issues. Why is it so different with a high school Spider-man? A high school setting doesn't mean the character has 90210 type drama.

@BIGMH:Exactly! It's amusing how people twist things. But I wonder since when is it blasphemy to have Peter Parker back in the place where his story started in the first place lol. Also, alot of times fanboys like too complain when the cbms have alot of action and a simple story but all of a sudden with Spider-man it has to be different. Any yes, high school drama doesn't at all automatically equal Twilight or 90210. If you want to see good High School Drama watch Freaks and Geeks,Seasons 1-5 of Degrassi:The Next Generation or Joss Whedon's Buffy The Vampire Slayer TV show.

@Destroyer14: I know the villain design are kinda stupid but what's wrong with Ultimate? It has a great characterization of Peter Parker and view on teen life.
tazmaniak
tazmaniak - 5/22/2010, 11:06 AM
Yeah, I never got why there's so much Ultimate hate on this board.Ultimate Spider-Man has proven to be incredibly popular with fans.Hell, my grandfather even likes it.He says it's more in tune with what he read in the 60s.I also don't think the designs are stupid at all.

Destroyer14
Destroyer14 - 5/22/2010, 11:32 AM
@tazmaniak A lot of people like it because it's more modern, and Peter is more of a juvenile. Aunt May is not as "gentle" and Venom is ruined. PLUS, Carnage had nothing to to with Venom in Ultimate, which I don't like.

i like the first 2 but i think it would be better to make him more immature

its so crazy how many people on this site have so much hate for the Ultimate Universe. this is the only site on the net where you'll find so much hate for it.

when the Ultimate universe was first introduced, it was critically acclaimed by critics and fans alike. it really wasn't until Jeph Loeb took over that the whole thing went to shit.

i understand if its not your thing, but to just automatically hate anything Ultimate related (ahem, ahem LEEE, lol) is a little crazy. it has no effect whatsoever on the 616 universe, so i don't get what all the hate is for. its basically an Elseworlds series. people should relax a bit.
Destroyer14
Destroyer14 - 5/25/2010, 4:28 PM
@CorndogBurglar I don't hate everything Ultimate, I just don't like a lot of it. I don't like how the Avengers are portrayed, Carnage and Venom have nothing to with one another, Peter never gets out of high school, Crazy stuff(Quicksilver and Scarlet Which), etc.

I don't hate Ultimate, I just don't like most of it.
