Kevin Feige Weighs In On Reports That The SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Sequel Will Feature A Femme Fatale

There have been a lot of rumours about the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel featuring a "femme fatale" but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has now responded to that in a bid to set the record straight.

There have been a lot of rumours surrounding the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently confirmed that it will indeed be something of a globetrotting affair which takes Peter Parker out of New York City. However, he's now debunked a separate rumour regarding the possibility of a "femme fatale" type character making the wall-crawler's life difficult.

At the time that was reported, there was a lot of speculation that Black Cat might show up (despite Silver & Black
being in the works) but it no longer sounds like that's going to be the case next year.

Spider-Man was talks of a possible femme fatale that’s going to be answering Peter Parker’s life. Now that’s a short list. And the one that immediately pops my head at least is Black Cat.

No, that was, uh, that, that was a misleading minor casting search. None of those rumors are true at all.

That's a shame but seeing as we're likely getting Gwen Stacy in this sequel, it's probably more important for Marvel to get that right before introducing someone like Felicia Hardy for Peter's affections. There is, of course, a chance that Feige could be telling a little white lie here but we're just going to have to wait and see. What do you guys think? Let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

I'm pretty sure I've read the same news a few days ago on this site.

I hope the rumour of Peter going globetrotting isn't real, FFS can we just have our current Spidey IN New York in his CLASSIC Spider-man outfit doing Spider-man shit?!

No [frick]ing AI, and just a good compact story. Oh and NO other Avengers.

@nikgrid - We've had that, multiple times, even in Homecoming.

@nikgrid - Actually, the only thing Feige has confirmed is that Spidey is going global.

@Nebula - Yeah, how dare he want a Spider-Man movie actually adhere to what Spider-Man is in the source material! It was done before so why should he still want a Spider-Man to be a *SPIDER-MAN* movie?
Nebula

@PeterSparker - He'll still get a Spider-Man in a Spider-Man movie, just not New York. And he can feel free to want New York, you say that as if I'm like "[frick] you for wanting that."

People are sick of the same old Spidey movie, so they cut the origin, made Aunt May older, etc. If they want to make this Spidey his own thing, rather than what we've already seen 7 times, I'm fine with that. In fact I'd encourage it.

@nikgrid - Sorry but I want to see something different. Spidey swinging around in NY has been done by three different Actors already.

@Nebula - For 5 minutes...and it was awesome!

@Nebula - I find it funny you change all this stuff about Spidey, that IS Spider-man like adding AI, no New York, and yet they change Superman into a character less than perfect and everybody goes crazy.
Nebula
Nebula - 4/29/2018, 4:58 AM
@nikgrid - Yeah it was. And New York isn't going anywhere.

@nikgrid - Because the things they changed about Superman are crucial to his character. Spidey's changes can just be chucked out in the future. Supes' are ever-present.

@LaserKing - Well thanks to Feige and Disney you're gonna get it. It's a shame, because I think they could do an awesome classic Spidey, Tom Holland is excellent casting.
