SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Clip Description Confirms Major Costume Change And Spoils Happy Hogan's Cameo

A clip from the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer was shown at an event in Brazil today, and it featured a major alteration to the wall-crawler's costume along with Jon Favreau's cameo as Happy.

Earlier today, Sony Pictures showed off a snippet of the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer at Brazil's CCXP, and descriptions are already flooding online. The clearest comes from Marvel's own Agent M, and as you can see below, the wall-crawler is about to get a major costume upgrade as he's given a new suit by Jon Favreau's Happy Hogan. Some claim that it bears a resemblance to the Iron Spider costume from the Civil War comic book, but a detailed breakdown of the suit has yet to be revealed.

"The Spider-Man Homecoming footage was short but AWESOME," he explains via Twitter. "Starts from Spidey's POV, talking with Happy Hogan. There's a case from Tony Stark with an "upgrade" for Spidey. Then we see Spidey leap off a building, open his arms, web wings! There were a few more flashes of shots, but I can't remember. That classic underarm webbing look was just so rad."

Apparently, those web wings are fairly large and Spider-Man actually jumps off the Washington monument (with a helicopter in the background), opens his arms, and starts gliding towards an oncoming Vulture. That sounds very cool, and it was also revealed at the event that the trailer will be released "soon." That means it could be today, a week from now, or with Rogue One. Who knows!

What's interesting/worrying about these details is the fact that we now know Iron Man will continue making Peter's costumes and that a big chunk of the action clearly takes place outside of New York City. Those are two big departures from the comic books, but web wings? That sounds pretty spectacular.

.....would be nice if Peter was doing it himself though. And not Tony.

@MattBellissimo - But it makes sense from an MCU standpoint. Peter is poor. He doesnt have the funds to create such intricate clothing.

@SonOfAGif - peter is a genius, he would find a way.

@MattBellissimo - or at least if they were Pete's designs, or ideas.

@MonsieurClunge - Right after he sells blood or heads into the sperm bank for those funds.

@MonsieurClunge - High-grade materials cost money regardless of how smart you are.

@SonOfAGif - Peter's always been poor in the comics (at least before the Big Time storyline), and he still made all that stuff for himself.

@Matador - this is a comic book movie. im willing to suspend my disbelief. its easier to make stark a star than come up with something that would make peter stand out.

@MattBellissimo - I would have really liked to get a clear shot of his first costume. I'm a sucker for "first draft costumes".

@MattBellissimo - Exactly my point. I love to see the spider-tracers in the future, but I understand this is him still dealing with high school.

@Matador - to make web pits? or web shooters? or shutter eyes? he did it in the comic without being rich like Tony. peter is a fricking genius and some of the features of his suit he could make at home, stop making excuses.

@SonOfAGif - did tony paid scholarships for a whole school during civil war? why can't he just provide peter with the tech and have him do all the work...

@teefurtree - yes, yes they do but having tony make everything kinda takes away from peters genius side.

@DavidGray - He did design the webshooters and fluid, so it's not like he's a slouch.

The moving eyes are such a vanity thing that I can't imagine Peter spending days to make them work when he could spend that time swinging around Manhattan. Same with the Spider-Signal and probably the web pits.

I think the "subservient to Tony" feeling will subside once he's gotten some screentime in his own context for something that doesn't ultimately revolve around Stark.
