SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Star Zendaya Sheds Some Light On Her Mysterious Role
Zendaya has denied reports that she'll be playing MJ Watson in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but in this new interview, the actress makes it clear that her character won't be who we're expecting.
There's been a lot of talk about Zendaya's role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, with seemingly credible sources claiming that she's been cast as Mary Jane Watson. That's something she's denied on multiple occasions, but when MTV caught up with her this weekend, she made it clear she's just Michelle.
"My character is 100 percent Michelle, that’s her name, I promise I’m not lying. She’s definitely a different character," the actress claimed. "This is a character I can have fun with and just really create what I wanted to make her and the director a lot of really cool ideas about how to make her weird and interesting and cool. She says weird things at the wrong time, but that’s why people like her."
It's pretty obvious now that Zendaya isn't going to be revealed as MJ and that Michelle is probably loosely based on Michelle Gonzales, Peter Parker's roommate and on/off girlfriend from the comics.
Don't worry if you don't remember her as she made very little impact on the wall-crawler's world and was quickly written out of his series because no one really cared about or liked her, but that gives Marvel a lot of creative freedom. What do you think of the Spider-Man: Homecoming star's comments?
