SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE - Spider-Man 2099 Gets An Overhauled Hot Toys Figure Following Backlash

When Hot Toys revealed its Spider-Man 2099 figure based on the character's appearance in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the response from collectors...well, it wasn't good. Now, it's been overhauled!

Earlier this year, Hot Toys revealed its 1/6th scale figures based on Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Miles Morales/Spider-Man, Spider-Gwen, and Spider-Man 2099 are all on the way, though the latter's appearance left some collectors reeling.

For whatever reason, his articulation points were on full display, including a midsection clearly split in two akin to a $25 Marvel Legends action figure. While that presents lots of posing options, the appeal of Hot Toys is their screen accuracy and that wasn't the case with Miguel O'Hara!

In response to the backlash, the company said they would go back to the drawing board and we now have some official photos (via Toonado.com). Decked out in what's described as "a newly tailored, highly-flexible fabric material," this is a major improvement and a design that's more in line with the sequel.

It's unclear whether these changes will result it an even later-than-expected release date, though if you buy Hot Toys, then you'll know delays are the norm.

Take a closer look at the overhauled Spider-Man 2099 below.

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.

But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The movie stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Oscar Isaac.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now available on Digital platforms.
