The review embargo lifted for Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse earlier today (you can check out our verdict here), and, not too surprisingly after those glowing social media reactions, the majority of critics are very impressed with the animated sequel.
With 87 reviews counted, the Into the Spider-Verse follow-up is currently sitting at a spectacular 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, which means that, so far, only five negative write-ups have been added.
Even the "rotten" reviews single out certain things they did enjoy (aside from one which describes the movie as "a barrage of inconsistent visuals that often look like ugly comic-book graffiti"), but it seems the unique visual style on display simply isn't to everyone's liking, while the Multiversal aspects also came in for some criticism.
For the most part, though, Across the Spider-Verse is another hit with the critics. Will cinemagoers feel the same way? We'll find out when the movie arrives in theaters this weekend.
