Following a week of teases that sent the internet into a frenzy, Marvel Entertainment has finally made their big Spider-Man announcement, and while it's not a comic adaptation of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 4, it is still plenty exciting as another acclaimed filmmaker is about to tell an all-new story about the friendly neighborhood webslinger.

The New York Times is reporting that J.J. Abrams (Mission: Impossible III, Star Trek, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker)  and 20-year-old son Henry Abrams are partnering with Marvel Entertainment to write a new five-part Spider-Man miniseries, with the first issue set to arrive this coming September. Sara Pichelli will provide the artwork, which will be colored by Dave Stewart.

The miniseries will introduce a devastating new villain, Cadaverous, who will cause all kinds of trouble for both Peter Parker and Spider-Man as well as for Spidey's lady love, Mary Jane Watson.
