"No one survives the hunt..."
The first footage from Kraven the Hunter just screened at CinemaCon, and it begins with the title character biting a guy's nose off! Yes, as he was introducing the teaser, star Aaron Taylor Johnson made the surprising announcement that Kraven will be Sony Pictures' first R-rated Marvel movie.
The Kick-Ass star went on to note that Kraven will be “a Marvel movie grounded heavily in the real world. We know he is a fierce hunter, a highly trained killer.”
The rest of the promo sees Kraven in his signature fur vest from the comics facing-off against a caravan of poachers, who he makes quick - and very violent - work of. We also get a glimpse of Russell Crowe as the Russian father of Taylor-Johnson’s Sergei Kravinoff, and right at the end, it's revealed that a new take on Spider-Man villain the Rhino will be introduced in the movie.
Alessandro Nivola (The Many Saints of Newark) is playing the character, though all we see of him in Rhino mode is the skin on his arm starting to transform into thick hide as he says, "don't you want to know why they call me the Rhino?"
J. C. Chandor directs Kraven, which has a release date of October 6 and also stars Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, and Christopher Abbott.
